ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Weed Appreciation Day which was established to remind people that a weed is just a plant growing where you don’t want it to grow. Blackberries are fantastic when you find them growing wild in the forest, but are perhaps less desirable when you find them growing in the middle of your rhododendron bushes. That’s basically what makes a weed a weed, and there are hundreds of ‘weeds’ that are incredibly important in health, science, and culinary uses.
There’s also chickweed, which believe it or not is actually quite tasty and packed with vitamins, but most people just rip them out and throw them in the compost bin or burn them. Chicory is often considered to be a weed as well, though it’s a pretty little plant with bright blue flowers, but it’s a hugely popular drink in the south, especially in Louisiana. Certainly it’s the roots, but still, weeds are weeds only if you don’t want them where you find them!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A weed is but an unloved flower.
Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Looking around my tiny little yard here, it seems I probably have a lot of weeds growing. There is little grass, but what is there is appreciated. It’s not seen a whole lot of care and needs a lot TLC for sure. Leaves mark my property line. You can tell where the neighbors line begins. As it’s been raining a lot and there is a lot of mud all around and it’ll take a few dry days in a row before I can even begin to get out there and rake up leaves or pick up fallen branches from the trees.
I guess I really need to get a pair of muck boots. Something I’ve not had to have in the past. What little grass there is is starting to green up and grow so I’ll need to clean up in order to mow. We had a well tended yard and flower beds where I lived before. Not to say the weeds didn’t give it a try, they did for sure. The sunny heads of dandelions seem to grow everywhere.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Black Forest Cake Day!
This black forest dump cake recipe is full of cherries and chocolate and is unbelievably easy to make.
Black Forest Dump Cake Recipe
Two 21 ounce cans of cherry pie filling
One 16.5 ounce box Devil’s Food Cake Mix, unprepared
3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
One 12.8 ounce jar of prepared hot fudge, warmed slightly according to directions on jar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread both cans of cherry pie filling evenly into the bottom of a 9x13 cake pan.
Top the cherry pie filling with the Devil’s Food Cake Mix, unprepared. Smooth it out slightly to make sure it is even.
Drizzle melted butter on top of cake mix. Pour hot fudge over as evenly as possible.
Bake for 1 hour and serve warm topped with ice cream or whipped cream.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
But they don't get around
Like the dandelions do.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Criticizing another's garden doesn't keep the weeds out of your own.

Once the weather gets nicer, I am sure you will be able to get the lawn starting to look nicer. We had a lot of rain in January and our weeds got out of control in February. We were so busy with this and that so we found someone to mow them for us. Hasn't been so bad since then.

If I didn't have weeds, my poor yard would have been swept away after the long drought we had last summer. I always hated that we couldn't get rid of them but I am grateful for them now!
I've got to share that quote with Tom, "A weed is but an unloved flower." *lol* He's have a dickens of a time this spring with the back yard.
That's interesting about chicory. Being a fan of strong-strong coffee, I'm curious to try that blend someday!
