ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

8 DAYS UNTIL SPRING

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Check Your Batteries Day which is celebrated annually with the start of Daylight Savings Time. Changing your batteries is definitely highly recommended because it could actually save your life.
Created to raise awareness of the importance of testing and having working batteries in household appliances like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. These devices help to warn you of a potentially life threatening situation, giving you vital time to get yourself and your family to safety. However, it’s important they are tested. You can usually do this by pushing a button regularly to ensure they’re working correctly. Check Your Batteries Day is a reminder to do just that.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn.
Lewis Grizzard
I hope you all remembered to Spring Forward and set your Clocks ahead one hour. Spring is not here for a few days yet, but Daylight Savings Time has arrived in our part of the country and we lost 1 hour of sleep overnight, but will gain an hour of daylight in the evening.
I got to spend the first night in my new home last night thanks to the hard work of my family and friends. There will still be more moving going on here today. It’s definitely a two day job. It’s very cold here with a few snow showers. Our highs this weekend are below freezing, but on the bright side the roads are clear and it’s not raining.
Right now it pretty much looks like home here, but it will take some time to unpack it all and figure out where every thing will all go. This is a much smaller place and I still have too much stuff. I’ll figure it all out, but it may take awhile. Meanwhile there may be a few storage bins stacked in places they shouldn’t be.
I couldn’t have possibly done all this by myself so I’m very thankful for all the help. It’s great to be back online again! Hopefully it won’t be long now and things will be back to some semblance of order.
The picture above is the of light post that is by my front door. You can see I have some yard work to do when it warms up out side. Some landscaping in the flower beds is definitely in order. My neighbors are quite close by, but it’s seems quiet and peaceful here. There are plenty of shade trees all around. I’ll share more pictures in the days ahead.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Baked Scallop Day which is a good reason to get friends and family together to share a meal! The act of sitting around a table and leaving electronics in the other room, spending time reconnecting with those who are important to you has been the glue that has kept families and friends going strong forever. It is important to just focus on the moment in time and be present, and don’t forget the food!
BAKED SCALLOPS
1 qt. scallops, washed and drained
3/4 c. bread crumbs
1 1/2 c. cracker crumbs, crushed
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
1 1/2 sticks butter, melted
6 tbsp. heavy cream
Lemon wedges, garnish
Place scallops in a pan of boiling water. Bring to a boil, and remove after 1 minute, drain. Mix bread and cracker crumbs, salt, pepper and butter in a bowl. In a casserole, put a layer of crumb mixture, then scallops, alternating 2 to 3 layers with crumbs on top. Spoon cream over all. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 4 to 6.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.
Bern Williams
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Good to see a post from you, Ma. Glad you were able to sleep at your new place last night. Wow that is amazing about the weather. Certainly did put a hamper on the move, but good you had hard workers helping you. Soon your new place will start and feel like home.

Your neighbors do look close! Mine are pretty close too and I don't mind it. I am anxious to hear more about your new home and if you managed to get rid of enough stuff. I love this time change. More daylight in the evening is always a welcome to me. But losing an hour of sleep will take a bit to recover from!!
Yay! It's so good to 'see' you again, Ma.
We don't change our clocks here in Arizona ... but yes, I remember my mother would have me come down twice each year to change out her batteries in the smoke detectors.
I want to share this scallops recipe with my son. That's one of his favorite dishes.
