ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Homemade Soup Day which celebrates a bowl of fresh homemade soup. Canned will do the trick, but there’s nothing like a bowl of fresh homemade soup. Whether your favorite is chicken noodle, tomato or minestrone, today is a great day to enjoy a piping hot bowl of this perfect comfort food.
The history of soup is likely as old as the history of cooking itself. Such a smiple concept containing various nutitious ingredients into a large pot to create filling, easy to serve food, has been used for centuries. There are many regional varieties which have evolved according to local ingredients and tastes. Italian minestrone, French onion, New England chowder and Russian borscht are all perfect examples.
Every year Americans consume over 20 billion bowls of soup. Nearly all households have soup in them, proving its immense popularity. So share a bowl of your favorite soup today and celebrate.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I always think if you have to cook once, it should feed you twice, If you’re going to make a big chicken and vegetable soup for lunch on Monday you stick in the refrigerator and it’s also Wedneday’s dinner.

I do love homemade soup and have it often but for today, I have something else on the menu: I have leftover pork chops to eat and don’t want to waste them.
I’ve been working away to sort out my bedroom this week. Most people would not need a whole week, but I’m taking things slawly these days. Today I’m washing the mirrors and windows. Tomorrow I’ll give everything a good dusting which will include taking everything off the dressers and giving the wood a polish with some lemon oil. I keep scarves on the dressers too and they’ll need a good washing.before I can put them back on. So that means a load of wash must be done too. I have some towels that I can put them in with.
Little by little I’m getting my Spring cleaning done !
I hope you all have af a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Soup is cuisine’s kindness course, it creates reassurance, it steams consolation; after a weary day it promotes socialibilty, as the five o’clock cup of tea or the cocktail hour.
Louis Pulig De Gouy
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8084. for soup, true comfort food
8885. for leftovers on a busy day
8886. for windex, one of my favorite all purpose cleaners.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Soup is a lot like a family. Each ingredient enhances the other, Each batch has it’s own characteristics and it needs time to simmer to reach full flavor.

A winter day is always a good time for a hot bowl of soup!
We've been eating more soup/stew this season than I can ever recall! Tom keeps threatening to make his own chicken-noodle "one of these days" but my favorite is split-pea It always seems to taste better on the 2nd or 3rd day. I remember my former DH enjoying cold borscht with dollops of sour cream -- but haven't a clue where to find it 'ready-made.' Something I'd like to taste and see if I even LIKE it!
I just had some of my soup of the week for lunch, nothing like nice hot soup in the winter. Glad you are getting thins done. Slow and steady wins the race! :)
