ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Toaay is National Boy Scouts Day which recognizes the boys across American that have been doing good deeds, learning survival skills and developing moral foundations through the Boy Scouts of America.
The Boy Scouts of American has roots in the British Boy Scouts organization which was created in 1908 after the success of the book, Scouting for Boys by Robert Baden Powell.
On a foggy day in London an American newspaperman, William Dickson Boyce, became lost when a Boy Scout came to his assistance. With the boy’s guidance, Boyce arrived at his destination. When Boyce offered payment for the assistance, the Boy Scout refused explaining it was a good deed.
Boyce was inspired to organize similar youth groups into one organization. On February 8, 1910, Boyce filed papers of incorporation, and the Boy Scouts of American was born.
Boy Scouts have had a profound impact on the United States. Many presidents and other dignitaries have been Boy Scouts. A total of 181 Astronauts also have been part of the Boy Scout program.
With so many Boy Scouts across the nation, celebrate the day. Share your experiences and skills. Learn more about the Boy Scouts and what they have to offer.
February is also Boy Scout Month.
If you can’’t see the bright side, polhish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A Scout smiles and whistles under all circumstances.
Robert Baden Powell
Thanks to having 6 sons I’m proud to say I was a member of the Boy Scouts for many years. I first became a den leader in a Cub Pack, because one of my sons wanted to join and they had no leaders.
I went on to become involved in the Troop as they grew up. I loved the guidance and education that the Scouting program provides. It’ was a good experience by the boys and for me. They provided training and led us every step of the way. Having grown up in a family of all girls, I previously had little to no idea what it was to be a boy.
Our Troop was sponsored by our church and they were both a part of our lives for many years. The church still is, even though I’m no longer a part of the Boy Scouts. Many of the good deeds provided were done for the Church providing what help they needed.
This is the start of a new week and today I’m moving on to the 2nd room in my house to receive a good Spring cleaning, my bathroom. Although the bedroom didn’t get completely done, it is much better than if was.
I’m going to start by removing everything from the counter by the sink and cleaning that off with some windex spray. I’ll ask be cleaning the mirror and the window there. The shower walls will also get a good cleaning and shining up. Windex has become one of my favorite all purpose cleaners. It cleans and disinfects too. Leaves everything shinny and bright.
This room is much smaller than the bedroom and will surely get all done in the week allotted for it. Maybe I’ll even begin to move on to the entry way and the living room. The entryway is nothing more than a long hallway, but right now is cluttered with several pairs of boots. I leave them there to put on when I go outside. But only one pair needs to be on hand.
I’m also going to be cooking today and on the menu is:
One Pot Hamburger Buddy
makes 6 servings
3 cloves garlic, crushed and peeled
2 carrots cut into 2 inch pieces
10 0z mushrooms, large ones cut in half
1 lb. lean ground beef
2 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cups water
1 14 oz can beef broth, divided
8 oz. whole wheat elbow noodles, 2 cups
2 tbsp. Worcesshire sauce
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish
Put garlic, carrots and mushrooms in a food processor and process until finely chopped. Add onion and pulse until chopped.
Cook beef in large skillet over medium high heat. breaking it up with a wooden spoon until no longer pink. Stir in the chopped vegetables, thyme and salt and pepper and cook stirring often.until vegetables start to soften and mushrooms release their juices.
Stir in water, 1 1/2 cups of broth, elbow noodles and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a boil . Cover, reduce heat to medium and cook stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
Whisk flour with remaining broth in a small bowl until smooth, stir into the hamburger mixture. Stir in the sour cream, Simmer stiring often, until sauces is thickened . Serve sprinkled with parsley or chives, if desired.
The pictures today are of DS#6 and his son who are presently members of Boy Scouts,.
I hope you all have af a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday !

Support the Scouts today, it's a wonderful organization.
I'd no idea about the origins of the BSA. Neat.
Sure a blessing - both for you and your son - when you became a den leader. (I started to say troop leader ... oops!) I loved the years I spent in Brownies and Girl Scouts. Those are wonderful organizations, indeed.
