ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is President’s Day which is actually called Washington’s Birthday. Through the 1960’s American’s celebrated both Washington’s Birthday and Lincoln’s Birthday in the month of February. Then in 1968 Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Bill, which moved the observance of Washinton’s Birthday from February 22 to the third Monday of February. The original plan was to combine with Lincoln’s Birthday and rename it President’s Day, but that part of the bill never passed.
No matter what you call it, today is our opportunity to celebrate all the American Presidents and pay tribute to the contributions they have made to our country, The official roles of the President of the United States include: Chief of State, Chief Excutive, Chief Diplomate, Chief Administrator, Commander in Chef, Chief Legislator , and Head of the Party.
To celebrate this holiday, take a moment to learn something new about one of our presidents. Happy President’s Day !
If you can’’t see the bright side, polhish the dull side
Abraham Lincoln- the spirit incarnate of those who won the victory in the Civil War - was the true representative of this people, not only for his own generation but for all time, because he was a man among men.
Theordore Roosevelt
We’ve had some wonderful Presidents and some not so good, but they all took on a job with lots of responsibilities . I for one would never want them. It’s way above my pay grade for sure. I can’t imagine knowing as much as they need to know in order to lead our country. Maybe that is why some have been more successful than others.
They all deserve our honor and respect.
Hard to believe Valentin’es Day is now past and another weekend has ended. For me that means picking up the task of Spring Cleaning. This week, I’ll be in the living room and while I’m at it, I’ll be changing some of the decorations around from Valentine’s and winter into Spring and Easter.
I have a few of my Easter decorations on hand and also ones for St. Patrick’s Day in March. I’ll be putting out the green and thinking of Spring.
I have several green and white checked tablecloths to replace the red ones, and the ones with hearts and flowers. Everything will get replaced and the other washed and put away until next year.
It gives me a reason to dust and polish everything too. It’s the beginning of a new week and a new season to celebrate.
It’s also my day to cook something new to eat and on the menu is:
Cheeseburger Soup
Makes 8 servings
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup diced onion
4 cups beef broth
1 cup water
4 cups peeled diced potatoes
4 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups milk
1, 6 0z. can tomato paste
2 tbsp. ketchup
2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 cups shredded Cheddar and Americn cheese blend
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Chapped tomatoes, onion and or dill pickles for garnish
Cook beef in large pot over medium high heat, crumbling with a wooden spoon until no longer pink. Add celery and onion; cook stirring until the vegetables are softened. Add broth, water and potatoes. Bring to a boil.Reduce heat to a simmer, partially cover and cook stirring occasionally until potatoes are tender.
Meanwhile whisk the milk mixture into the soup and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and stir in cheese, a handful at a time. Cook just until the cheese is melted. Remove from heat and stir in parsley. Serve topped with tomatoes, onion and or pickles, if desired.
It’s a cold and snowy day and just perfect for some hot soup
I hope you all have GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday !
Eternity alone can reveal to the human race its debt of gratitude to the peerless immortal name of Washington.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Happy President's Day. Celebrate !
Aw, I've loving the St. Paddy's Day decor! Mostly, that embroidered doily under the glass rabbit in Pix #1. I'm thinking to leave our Valentine's stuff up in the dining room through the rest of February. Tom's birthday's on the 26th, and since he's been feeling sort of glum on account of all rain I'm thinking RED (and left over chocolate) will help his mood.
Your cheeseburger soup sounds delicious! I am going to try to get motivated to get something done today, but definitely not ready to jump into a full day of hard work yet. Happy President's Day :)
Love that first picture with the doily and rabbit, so delicate and someone did a great job embordering it. I could never start spring cleaning with snow on the grown so I commend you.
