62 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Hanging Out Day, which is a simple way to save energy by hanging out your laundry instead of machine drying it. This idea has been spread on Hanging Out Day since 1995, when the day was established to highlight the amount of energy that is wasted using electric clothes dryers. Electric clothes dryers can account for six to ten percent of energy consumption in a household. So hanging out your laundry to dry in the sun can really save a considerable amount of energy.
Hanging Out Day is celebrated by people hanging their laundry outside their homes in the open air, using the natural energy of the sun and wind to dry their clothes. You can join the celebrations and make your garden more colorful by hanging out your laundry too.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The Clothesline Said So Much
A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the fancy sheets
And towels on the line;
You'd see the company table clothes
With intricate design.
The line announced a baby's birth
To folks who lived inside
As brand new infant clothes were hung
So carefully with pride.
The ages of the children could
So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed
You'd know how much they'd grown.
It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.
It said, Gone on vacation now
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, We're back! when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare.
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy gray,
As neighbors raised their brows,
And looked disgustedly away.
But clotheslines now are of the past
For dryers make work less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess.
I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line!

The picture above is 4 of my grandchildren that were hanging out here on Sunday evening. They certainly made the back yard more colorful. They were looking at all the different colorful flowers blooming in the flower beds.
Today I’m hanging out, not with hanging clothes on the line, but with my two sisters as it’s their birthday and we are all going to lunch together.
It’s also National Garlic Day which promotes the many uses of Garlic. And, there certainly are many uses. It's a vegetable. It's a herb. It is used in recipes around the world. Garlic has been used medicinally for thousands of years. And, Garlic is believed to ward off evil spirits.
It’s flavor packed add in that can do almost anything, from reducing your cholesterol to keeping vampires at bay. Garlic contains tons of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are good for you too.
These garlic parmesan roasted potatoes are simple to make and are the perfect side dish to any dinner. These potatoes are just as crispy and delicious as fried potatoes, but much healthier!
1 ½ lbs red potatoes
2 tbsp. oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. freshly cracked black pepper
¼ cup. freshly grated parmesan
2 tbsp. chopped parsley for garnish
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with non stick cooking spray or line with parchment paper and set aside.
Rinse and scrub potatoes well. Cut each potato into bite sized chunks. Use a paper towel to pat potatoes dry. In a large bowl, toss potatoes with the oil, garlic, salt, and pepper making sure they are fully coated.
Spread potatoes evenly across baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes, stirring about halfway through.
Remove potatoes from oven and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to blot off any excess oil. Allow to cool for a few minutes. Toss potatoes with the freshly grated parmesan cheese, garnish with parsley. Serve immediately.
We’ve had some beautiful sunny days here lately but they say today is going to be partly cloudy and not as warm, but still in the lower 60’s which sure beats the 20’s and 30’s we had just a few short weeks ago.
Hopefully you’re not getting tired of Tulip pictures as I have plenty more to share. They are bright and beautiful and I love seeing them bloom.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
We must all hang together or most assuredly we shall hang separately.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I like that recipe for the potatoes; it does seem healthy and easy to do and I love potatoes in almost every shape and way prepared!
Such a cute picture of your grands! I bet they had fun looking to see what was growing!
I do remember my mom hanging clothes out to dry when we were growing up. Now I just hang up our wearing clothes but on an inside cloths rack.
