If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Matthew 2: 9-11
After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It isn't the size of the gift that matters, but the size of the heart that gives it.
Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book
Frankincense, gold and myrrh were given as gifts by the Wise men. I was thinking about how these gifts could apply in our everyday lives and did a little search and this is what I found.
Gold
A very precious and valuable commodity. It symbolized divinity - God in the flesh. He desires that we worship Him with contributions given to those who care for the Body of Christ. Maybe it’s money. Maybe it’s our skills. Maybe it’s our time
Frankincense
A very fragrant substance that symbolized holiness and righteousness. It’s a symbol of prayer. May the incense of our prayer float up into heaven.
Myrrh
A spice that symbolizes bitterness, suffering and affliction.
These spices were gifts anyone would deeply appreciate because they addressed the problems common to everyone, health and well being, for frankincense and myrrh are powerful medicines.
When we meet the most basic human needs of others - clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, visited the jailed - we are giving to Him and bestowing the wisest and most precious gifts of all.
Gold. Frankincense. Myrrh. These gifts symbolize the worship of the wise, what Jesus most desires from us at any time of year.
They say a little more snow today…we’ll see…
Hope you have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.
Lao-tzu
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1232. for the very precious gift of my family
1233. for the gift of prayers, given and received
1234. for the gift of health
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!
