14 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
18 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise:7:40 am

If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Luke 2:4
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to house and line of David.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
This past Thursday we had a high of 55 degrees early in the morning, yesterday we had a high of 32 degrees and today our high is expected to reach a walloping high of 25 degrees, BrrrChill! Talk about changing weather, we sure do get our share here.
I think that just like here the weather must have been a force to be reckoned with as Joseph and Mary made their journey to Bethlehem. It must have been a long cold road for them. A newly betrothed couple is forced to register for a census in a town far away. The woman is nine months pregnant.
Their hardships would have begun more than a week before the birth of their son, when the couple had to leave their home in Nazareth, in the northern highlands of Galilee, to register for a Roman census. They had to travel 90 miles to the city of Joseph's ancestors: south along the flatlands of the Jordan River, then west over the hills surrounding Jerusalem, and on into Bethlehem. It would have not been an easy trip.
I think that nothing in life worth having, comes easy. Everything you want in life you should go after. No matter what it is, you need to work for it. The more work it is, the more we appreciate it.
Getting ready for Christmas is not an easy thing at all, but for me it, the preparation is always half the celebration. So I’m putting another layer on to keep warm today and will continue the journey through Advent with the goal of Christmas in mind.
Hope you all have a Super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid?
Psalms 27
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1199. for another layer to put on to keep warm
1200. for a warm car to travel in
1201. for a good cup of hot coffee to start the day!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow!
Let It Snow!
Let It Snow!
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

That indeed was a journey for Mary and Joseph! I too can't imagine how hard it must have been! That was a drop in temps from one day to another in your neck of the woods, Ma. My hubby said a friend of his from Montana had on their FB page today that it was -46 close to where they lived. Brrr!!!
Stay as warm as you can as you continue to work to get ready for Christmas!
betty
Pam, I am playing catch up again this morning. I am so sorry to be so late in commenting. I believe you are right when you say that nothing worth having ever comes easy. I think it's the things that we really have to work for which end up meaning the most to us. The temps have been all over the place for us over here as well. The seasons seem to be getting more and more like that now. All over the place. Like you, I am excited about the holidays and the season and the reason for the season. I often reflect on how Mary must have felt and how frightening it all must have been for her. Here she was, having been told she would deliver the Son of God, and she's having to deliver him, alone in a stable.
As always I have enjoyed all of your thoughts, and photos and quotes. Happy "Holy"days! xxoo
