IT’S OFFICIALLY WINTER!
4 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
88 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!

Sunset: 5:02 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Matthew 1:1
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.
Hodding Carter, Jr.
It’s important for some to know just where they came from and the long list of Jesus’ relatives seems to go on and on.
He was a direct descendent of Abraham. The genealogy includes the names of several gentile women brought into the people of God - Ruth, Thamar, Rachab, and Bathsheba, the wife of Urias. Matthew explicitly takes a path through Jesus' ancestry to connect him with Gentiles and Jews. He connects him ultimately with Father Abraham. The fact that Messiah was to be of the house of David gave members of that family an additional incentive for preserving an accurate record of their family pedigree. Roots are important and so is the history of our faith.
Our family will be gathering today for our Christmas celebration. DS#3 and his wife are graciously hosting our get together. The only thing I have to do is take my gifts and the pan of lasagna I’ve prepared to contribute to our feast. DD and her hubby are taking me, so I won’t even need to drive. That is a good thing as driving very far for me anymore is a no no.
All of us will not be together as I still have some family out of state that won’t be able to come, but as always they are all in my thoughts and prayers. Those we love though are not really far away as we always keep them close to us in our hearts.
I hope you all have a Super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
This is all the Inheritance I can give to my dear Family. The Religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich indeed.
Patrick Henry
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1241. for the opportunity to be with family
1242. for good food
1243. for roots that keep us firmly planted
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

That lasagna I'm sure was delicious and welcomed at your family gathering, Ma! I am glad that you didn't have to drive to it either; I'm sure you had a great time there!
I do find it interesting with the genealogy of Jesus and how people back then knew their genealogy. Nowadays people are trying to work on their family trees and see how far they can go back, but back in Jesus' time and before, they could trace it pretty darn far back!
betty
As I am reading these backwards, I already know you had a lovely time. I am sure the lasagne went down a real treat! I haven't made it in a while, perhaps after Christmas. xxoo
