10 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
14 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise:7:45 am
Sunset:4:59 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
‘Glory to God in the highest;
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The pictures today are of a painted slate I did for my children a few years ago. I’m hoping that today I’ll finish off the 2nd of my big Christmas craft projects. That leaves me a few days to do some smaller ones so maybe I’ll get done everything I wanted to after all. If I don’t, I do have back up plans . There is still a little shopping to complete too and all the wrapping. Not a thing has been wrapped yet. Our family Christmas celebration will be on the 21st so that means I’ve got 10 days to get it all done. Hope you all are doing a bit better with your Christmas preparations than I am.
Thanks to two of my grandchildren’s school fund raisers I do have cookie dough in the freezer so I’ll bake a few cookies. I can always put some red and green sprinkles on them to make them look festive. There’s really no need for any further baking as I’ll be mostly home alone through the holidays. With the exception of caring for a few of my grandchildren I’m not expecting any company until DS#6 and his family come over for New Years.
New Year Day I always make our traditional pork roast and sauerkraut for any in my family that can come to ring in the New Year.
Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There is an old legend about a servant whose master died and left her a bag full of blessings. The master left a message for the servant telling her that the bag would always be full as long as she remembered four magic words. Unfortunately, the servant had soon forgotten the four magic words and was almost out of blessings. Finally she went to a wise man who suggested that possibly the four magic words were, I WISH I HAD. I wish I had this. I wish I had that.
She tried thinking of all the things she wanted, but the bag was not replenished. She then approached a person who happened to be passing her on the street. The stranger suggested, Well maybe the four magic words are GIVE ME SOME MORE.
So the servant continued her journey and kept saying, Give me some more. Give me some more. Give me some more. But the bag was now almost totally empty. In despair she sat down, lonely and dejected. She took a piece of bread out of her pack and began to eat it. A hungry child off of the street, alone and abandoned, approached her and asked her for the bread. It was obvious the child was in desperate need. So, without even thinking about it, the servant gave the child some bread. Before the child ate, though, she folded her little hands and said a blessing: I thank you Lord.
All of a sudden the servant's eyes lit up and she started dancing around in the street. She began chanting loudly: That's it. That's it. The four magic words: I THANK YOU LORD. Soon the bag was filled with blessings once again.
May we remember to say, I thank you lord, during this most holy season.
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1211. for nap time, good for kids and grand’ma’ too

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones. When you have laboriously accomplished your daily tasks, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.

I thank you, Lord, for MA's wonderful blog posts, in December and throughout the year!
That was cute what you painted for your children. You are very talented Ma! I bet you'll be able to get everything together by the 21st! I liked that story about counting blessings and especially telling God thank you! Something I need to do more of I do believe!
betty
What a beautiful slate you painted. You are full of surprises Pam! Nice too that you found that apple cinnamon loaf you forgot you had! Bonus! One less thing to bake! Happy Days! I always love all of your thoughts! xxoo
