TODAY’S QUOTE
Love is what makes the trip worthwhile.

IT’S THURSDAY !!
Well I made it over the Hump of this week and hopefully the rest will be clear sailing. I hope it’s not skidding in stead. The snow is on it’s way they say. DS#3 who lives in the snow belt said he has his plow on his tractor now so he is prepared should that promised snow come. I on the other hand have my trusty snow shovel and my next door sister has the snow blower.
The sun came out briefly yesterday but before I left for work it clouded up again and we had a few little rain showers. By 5:00 it is dark outside. I haven’t checked lately to see exactly what time the sun does actually set.
I had to work an extra hour again yesterday, but today the boss says he’ll be in the office.
We’ll see…
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

I am in the hands of God,

TODAY IS… CRACKER JACK DAY
In the early 1890s, F.W. Rueckheim started selling peanuts and caramels at his popcorn stand. He then combined all three products to sell at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. He called his invention "Candied Popcorn and Peanuts". When a friend tried the new combination, he yelled out "That's Crackerjack!" to change the name. The snack was immortalized in 1908 in the song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with the words "Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack
EACH DAY OF DECEMBER
Dec. 4 - Deck the Halls:
Set aside one Saturday when the whole family helps put up all the house decorations (everything but the tree). Hang all the garlands, house lights, wreaths, and stockings and don't forget the mistletoe! Have carols on the stereo and chili in the crockpot. Then when all the decorating is completed, let your children invite some friends to join the family for dinner and a chance to admire the day's decorating work
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Wear Brown Shoes Day
Today is
Santa's List Day
Have you been good all year?
Have you been Naughty? Or, have you been nice?
Santa knows.
Santa's Elves have been everywhere, checking up on children all over the world, to see who has been naughty, and who has been nice. Thanks to the hard work of his elves, Santa now has two lists. The short list contains the names of a few children who have been naughty. A much longer list is filled with the names of children who have been good all year long.
Which list are you on?
Kids..... make sure to be especially good around the holidays. That's when parents need children to be on their best behavior, as they are busy preparing for the holidays
Santa told us that doing extra chores, or something special to help out around the house between now and Christmas, will get you off the "Naughty" list, and onto the "Nice" list
Today is Cracker Jack Day

1816: James Monroe of Virginia was elected the fifth president of the United States
1867 - The National Grange of Husbandry was founded. The organization of farmers was known, typically, as the Grange
1934 - Ethel Merman recorded I Get a Kick Out of You, from Cole Porter’s musical, Anything Goes
1955 - As part of an NBC-TV special, mime artist Marcel Marceau appeared on television for the first time
1996: The Mars Pathfinder lifted off from Cape Canaveral and began speeding toward Mars on a 310 million-mile odyssey to explore the Red Planet's surface
TODAY’S SMILE
When Orville and Wilbur Wright finally succeeded in keeping their homemade airplane in the air for fifty-nine seconds on December 17, 1903, they rushed a telegram to their sister in Dayton, Ohio, telling of this great accomplishment.
The telegram read, "First sustained flight today fifty-nine seconds. Hope to be home by Christmas." Upon receiving the news the sister was so excited about the success that she rushed to the newspaper office and gave the telegram to the editor. The next morning-believe it or not-the newspaper headline stated in black, bold letters, "POPULAR LOCAL BICYCLE MERCHANTS TO BE HOME FOR HOLIDAYS."
The scoop of the century was missed because an editor missed the point.
Yet isn't that what happens every year at this time. People rush around buying gifts. The music of "Silent Night, Holy Night" is played on radio stations and in shopping malls. There is talk of peace on earth and good will to all men. Miniature manger scenes are set up in many homes. Yet for all this activity, much of the world misses the point of Christmas. They never understand that the greatest gift ever given was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. And so, we spend more time telling about the coming of Santa than the coming of the Savior.
