ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 3RD, 2008
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Happiness is when what you think, what you say,
and what you do are in harmony.
Mahatma Gandhi
TODAY’S ACTION
Renew yourself with quiet time
TODAY’S QUOTE
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.
The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
Thomas Edison
IT’S WEDNESDAY !!
Tuesday was a busy and cold day. I happened to look at the outside temp in the afternoon and it was only 26. Today it is supposed to warm up a little and we’ll have some rain that will change later on to snow. After today we’ll be in the 20’s the rest of the week. Take good care all, it could get slippery out there.
Thursday evening is my Bible Study night but if the weather is bad I’ll be staying in. Friday my old camping buddy asked me to go out for a fish dinner with them. I haven’t seen them since last Spring so that will be very nice.
Everything seems to depend on the weather this time of year. A trip home can be hazardous when the roads are icy. The weather man says they got about 4 inches out in the snowbelt earlier this week, we only got a ground covering.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love.
Come, Lord Jesus, come
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY IS… LET’S HUG DAY
You Deserve A Hug, so...HERE IT IS!
Dec. 3 - St. Nick's Stocking:
Hang St. Nick stockings early in the morning on the day before St. Nick's arrival (December 6). Throughout the day, each person in the family may sneak to the stockings and put a gift in the other family member's stockings. These surprises may be discovered upon wakening on St. Nick's Day.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is National Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day of appreciation for the things we have, starting with the roof over our heads.
For most of us, a roof over our head signifies living in a house that protects us from the elements, keeping us warm, dry, and cozy. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as you and I. There are many homeless people right here in our country. Some people live in a cardboard box on the street...... literally. There are millions of people around the world who live in poverty or disaster areas, and do not have a home to keep them comfortable and safe.
Spend a few minutes appreciating your roof and home today,
along with the many things you have.
Today is Special Kids Day, a day to honor developmentally-delayed or physically-challenged children
Today is Reinvigorate Your Brain by Reading Something Day
Today is Alka-Seltzer Day, marking its introduction by the Dr. Miles Medical Company of Elkhart, Indiana, on December 3, 1931. Its origin was traced to the newsroom of The Elkhart Truth, where reporters mixed aspirin with bicarbonate of soda to ward off winter colds. A Miles chemist added citric acid for taste
Today is International Day of Disabled Persons, sponsored by the United Nations
Today is Illinois Admission Day. Illinois became the 21st U.S. state on this date in 1818. Also known as the Prairie State, Illinois calls the tiny, but beautiful violet, the state flower, while state bird honors were bestowed on the brightly colored cardinal
1929: Ford Motor Company raised the pay of its employees 40 percent despite the collapse of the U.S. stock market. Ford wages went from $5 to $7 a day
1950: Newscaster Paul Harvey made his first national broadcast from Chicago
2000: Space shuttle Endeavour's astronauts attached the world's largest, most powerful set of solar panels to the international space station
TODAY’S SMILE
Beatitudes For Parents
Blessed are those parents who make their peace with spilled milk and mud, for of such is the kingdom of childhood.
Blessed is the parent who engages not in the comparison of his child with others, for precious unto each is the rhythm of his own growth.
Blessed are the fathers and mothers who have learned laughter, for it is the music of the child's world.
Blessed and wise are those parents who understand the goodness of time, for they make it not a sword that kills growth but a shield to protect.
Blessed and mature are they who without anger can say "no," for comforting to the child is the security of firm decisions.
Blessed is the gift of consistency, for it is heart's-ease in childhood.
Blessed are they who accept the awkwardness of growth, for they are aware of the choice between marred furnishings and damaged personalities.
Blessed are the teachable, for knowledge brings understanding, and understanding brings love.
Blessed are the men and women who in the midst of the unpromising mundane, give love, for they bestow the greatest of all gifts to each other, to their children, and -- in an ever-widening circle -- to their fellow men.
Blessed are those who read these words...
but more blessed will be they who follow them!

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Rejoice because your names are written in heaven.
Luke 10:30
When God chose to send His Son to live and die for our redemption, everything changed. Jesus' coming, death, and resurrection are the most pivotal events ever. Without Jesus, we would never have a reason for rejoicing
For Christians, we have the biggest reason ever for rejoicing. We rejoice because we have God's love and the hope of eternal life with Him
We don't just have joy, we have a very good reason for being joyful.
It helps to remind ourselves of that
