DECEMBER 2ND, 2008

Samuel Taylor Coleridge
TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE
A somebody was once a nobody who wanted to and did.

IT’S TUESDAY !!
Wet rainy/snowy days are expected this week. For awhile we’re fluctuating around freezing during the day but toward the end of the week it sounds as though it may get even colder and send some accumulating snow our way. We usually get snow in December but not when we want it and that is when Christmas comes.
DS#2 stopped by my house after work yesterday to say good bye as he was headed home. I should hear from him today as he usually lets me know when he’s arrived safely.
No matter how old my babes get, it is still good to hear from them.
It’s funny that every day they all come and go without me being aware of it at all, but when they come home I like to know they’ve arrived back to their homes safely.
I haven’t had the opportunity to talk with DS#3 but he did e-mail that they’d put their tree up on Sunday. That is a good thing. Christmas lights always lend a cheery glow. I’ve spent many evenings in years past just sitting and enjoying the Christmas tree lights. Course I’ve got to have my Christmas music playing too.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S REFLECTION
You say “I can’t figure things out.”
God says: I will direct your steps.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Yesterday marked World Aids Awareness Day. One may say such a day doesn’t mean much because it doesn’t have any connection with our own lives. Yet AIDS has killed 20 million in the past 20 years and an estimated 33 million live with HIV today. It makes it one of the most destructive diseases in recorded history. It has ravaged many parts of Africa. AIDS not only leads to poverty but is also caused by poverty. Prevention through education is a key to tackling the huge problem of HIV.
Jesus also refused to walk away from leprosy which was also a dreaded disease in his time. He always had compassion on those who were stigmatised and who were outcasts. Yesterday governments across the world pledged to step up the fight against HIV. Such promises are easy to make. Our prayer today is that such promises will become a reality

Although Jesus’ coming as Messiah was first to the nation of Israel, he is given for all of us, all nations, all people. Death, war and violence will not exist in the Kingdom. What will it be like to live in a world with no wars, where everyone gets along
