TODAY’S ACTION
Radiate the glow of Christmastime
TODAY’S QUOTE
When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness.

IT’S MONDAY !!
I got the Christmas shopping done after church yesterday. DD picked me up and her silver sleigh took us off to the mall and got it all done!
I talked to DS#5 and he had a caricature job at a Christmas luncheon on Sunday and DS#3 e-mailed to say they were having a quiet Sunday. His wife was baking cookies so I bet it smelled terrific at their place yesterday afternoon.
DS#1 called to check in and he’s no longer suffering the dizziness so hopefully his vertigo is cured now. . DS#2 and #4 also called and all of them are doing well. DS#2 says it is official now that will not have to deploy but will be traveling a lot in the next couple of months. DS#4 says he’ll have a nice long much needed break from work during the holidays.
It was a busy Sunday on the phone here at my house. It’s always great to hear from all of them. I’m so very thankful they take the time to keep in touch.
The week ahead will be another long one but then after that I’ll only have a 3 day work week because I have a vacation day the day after Christmas. It will be sooooo good to have a little break.
There is nothing on my calendar besides work this week except for our family Christmas celebration on Saturday. I’m looking forward to that for sure !
Take good care all !
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS… BILL OF RIGHTS DAY
To Americans, the Bill of Rights are key amendments to the U.S. Constitution, that protect our individual rights.
On March 4, 1789, the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified by the (former)13 colonies, and went into effect. States and individuals were concerned that the Constitution did not properly cover and protect a number of rights of individuals. The Constitution was signed by the original 13 states with the requirement, or understanding, that a Bill of Rights would be created, amending the new U.S. Constitution.
On September 25, 1789, the First Congress of the United States proposed to the state legislatures 12 amendments to the Constitution. 10 of these amendments were added to the Constitution on December 15, 1791.
The Bill of Rights includes these Amendments:
Amendment 1- Freedom of speech, press and religion
Amendment 2 - The right to bear arms
Amendment 3- Protection of homeowners from quartering troops, except during war.
Amendment 4 - Rights and protections against unreasonable search and seizure
Amendment 5 - Rights of due process of law, protection against double jeopardy, self incrimination
Amendment 6 - Rights of a speedy trial by jury of peers and rights of accused
Amendment 7 - Rights to trial by jury in civil cases
Amendment 8 - Protection from cruel and unusual punishment, excessive bail
Amendment 9 - Protection of rights not specified in the Bill of Rights
Amendment 10 - States rights, power of the states
Of the 12 original amendments, which ones were not approved? Amendments # 1 and 2. These dealt with the number of representative to congress, and compensation to representatives.
On Bill of Rights Day, we hope you celebrate you American Citizenship, and spend a few minutes reflecting upon the freedoms that you enjoy. These freedoms do not exist in many countries of the world.

Dec. 15 - Forget the Frenzy:
Leave the Christmas frenzy behind today and take the family to a special Christmas movie or play. Top off the evening with an ice cream sundae at a favorite restaurant. Or just enjoy a quiet evening together around the fireplace -- add mugs of hot chocolate, pictures from past Christmases, and home movies for some old-fashioned fun.
TODAY’S SMILE
A BROTHER LIKE THAT
A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it. "Is this your car, Mister?" he asked.Paul nodded.
"My brother gave it to me for Christmas." The boy was astounded.
"You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn't cost you nothing?
Boy, I wish. . ." He hesitated.
Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for.
He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels. "I wish," the boy went on, "that I could be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my automobile?"Oh yes, I'd love that.
After a short ride, the boy turned and with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile.
But Paul was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
"There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs.
His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn't cost him a cent. And some day I'm gonna give you one just like it. . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that I've been trying to tell you about."
Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride.
That Christmas Eve, Paul learned what Jesus meant when he had said:
It is more blessed to give. . .

WINTERS OF LONG AGO
http://www.members.shaw.ca/gf1/winters-of-long-ago.htmlTODAY’S WORD
repletion \rih-PLEE-shun\, noun:
1. The condition of being completely filled or supplied.2. Excessive fullness, as from overeating
Repletion is derived from Latin replere, "to fill again, to fill up," from re- + plere, " to fill." Plenty is a related word
TODAY’S REFLECTIONThe glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
Isaiah 40:5
Rulers stride through the world with bodyguards, fanfare, and flashing jewelry. In contrast, God’s visit to earth took place in a shelter for animals, with no attendants present and nowhere to lay the newborn King but a feed trough. Indeed, the event that divided history into two parts may have had more animal than human witnesses.
In most religions, fear is the primary emotion when approaching God. In Jesus, God made a way of relating to us that did not involve fear
