ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 11th, 2008
TODAY'S THOUGHT
A lovely thing about Christmas is that it's compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together.
Garrison Keillor
TODAY’S ACTION
Encourage the hearts of people around you simply by being there
TODAY’S QUOTE
Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.
Laura Ingalls Wilder
IT’S THURSDAY !!
I guess we all made it OVER THE HUMP and now we can slide in to the weekend. I’m ready for it! The last 2 weeks have seemed like long ones for sure. I talked to DS#6 who said they got all their decorations up last weekend and he’s looking forward to a weekend that he can rest. I also talked to DS#5 who has had bronchitis and was out of school on Monday and Tuesday this week. I’m sure he’s looking forward to the weekend too! We’re probably all looking for some ‘time out’ right now.
It did get colder again and the rain did change to snow. Not much at all but none the less snow. I guess we are to get some more tomorrow. Coming up on the 21st is the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year. After that we’ll begin to see a few minutes more of daylight each day and before we know it Spring will come. I’m counting on it for sure.
Take good care all and keep warm !
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love.
Come, Lord Jesus, come
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Lord, hold our troops in

Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY IS… NATIONAL NOODLE RING DAY
National Noodle Ring Day is a December day that kids young and old have been impatiently awaiting......yeah, right!
What would cooking be like without the noodle ring? We shudder to think about it. We are certainly relieved that the Noodle Ring exists, so we can cook them in one recipe after another. And, doesn't it make sense that we honor the Noodle Ring with its own very special day!?
BTW: Is the proper term "Noodle Ring" or "Ring Noodle"? We will let you make the call on this important question.
Get your fill of noodle rings today. After all, that's what this day is for
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Hallmark TV Commercials Appreciation Day
Today is Indiana Admission Day. Indiana became the 19th U.S. state on this day in 1816
The little state flower, the peony, grows in many Hoosier front yards. The cardinal, the state bird, is also the state bird of each of the states (except Michigan) that border Indiana: Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio
The first display of the northern lights was recorded in America. The sighting was made in New England on this day in 1719. The report said that a mysterious face seemed to appear in the atmosphere; and, since most aurora borealis displays occur in September and October and again in March and April, this is very strange, indeed!
1946: The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was established
1946 - John D. Rockefeller, Jr. offered up a six-block area of land in New York City for use as world headquarters of the United Nations. The offer was accepted the following day
1958: The Coasters recorded Charlie Brown
1995: Reuter news service reported that Santa Claus was being flown from the U.S. to teach British Father Christmases to be more jolly. The 130-store Index chain had imported a U.S. Santa teacher to help British Father Christmases to get the "ho-ho-hos" right.
Each Day of December
Dec. 11 - A Note of Thanks:
Place a pretty box of thank-you notes in each child's stocking to encourage your children to express their gratitude to relatives and friends. Or pick up some cards for yourself. In the past I’ve sent a thank you out to those I’ve received gifts from along with a Happy New Year greeting.
TODAY’S SMILE
THE SIMPLE GIFTS
First, you believe in Santa Claus.
Then you don't believe in Santa Claus.
And before you know it, you are Santa Claus

TODAY’S REFLECTION
She will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21
As we approach Christmas, it’s good to remember why Jesus was born. The Son of God did not come to establish a nostalgic, family-oriented, commercially successful holiday. The angel told Joseph: “Mary will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21).
Christmas began with a present from God to His sin-damaged world:

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC
Lengthened winter and tardy spring are both good for hay and grain, but bad for corn and garden
Tomorrow on December 12th is The Full Cold Moon
This is the month when the winter cold fastens its grip and the nights become long and dark. This full Moon is also called the Long Nights Moon by some Native American tribes
10 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !

AND 113 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Delight yourself in the Lord

Psalm 37:4
May there be a miracle in YOUR life today
and may you have the EYES to SEE it!
I Love You All !!!
