71 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!
Sunrise:7:53 am
Sunset: 5:14 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Presley came from very humble beginnings and grew up to become one of the biggest names in rock 'n' roll. By the mid 1950s, he appeared on the radio, television and the silver screen. On August 16, 1977, at age 42, he died of heart failure, which was related to his addictions. Since his death, Presley has remained one of the world's most popular music icons.
Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The image is one thing and the human being is another. It's very hard to live up to an image, put it that way.
Elvis Presley
I like to celebrate everything I can. Holidays are a time of joy, a time of coming together, a reason to perk up on a dreary day. They don’t need to be a big deal, just a simple reason to celebrate.
Elvis symbolizes the beauty of rising to one’s abilities, the consequences of having everything you want, and the kindred spirit that exists everywhere between lovers of shiny, sparkly things.
I was a young teen when Elvis became a star. I can remember going to the movies and screaming with excitement along with hundreds of other teenagers.
Being a star like that gives us all something to think about. Elvis shared his gift with others but at a very high cost. His popularity changed him and he eventually had a tragic and young end. I think we need to appreciate and use the gifts we’ve been given, but we also need to remember who gave us those gifts and to be thankful for them.
Today we’ll begin to see a slight rise in temps, going into the 20’s. Good riddance to those below O days. Hopefully we won’t see anymore anytime soon. After an extended Christmas vacation, due to the weather, our schools will finally reopen today and I hope that teachers and students will rise to their abilities and have a great beginning to the rest of the school year.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
Do something worth remembering.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Whatever I will become will be what God has chosen for me
Elvis Presley
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1295. for rising temps, even warmer tomorrow
1296. for stars that shine in the darkness
1297. for shelters that offered people a place to go to get warm
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Until we meet again, may God bless you as he has blessed me.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Hard to imagine had he lived Elvis would have been 78 years old. He truly did have the talent for sure, but you are right Ma with how he changed and what it ultimately cost him with his young passing.
Glad to hear the schools reopened; always good to get back into the routine after the holidays are over.
betty
I always loved Elvis's music. I always feel a bit sad for these famous people. They pay a horrible price for their fame in loss of privacy, etc. I think some can handle it well and others . . . well it destroys them. I would not trade my ordinary life for one of theirs, ever. Hope that you are staying warm! XXOO
I couldn't imagine being in the 20 temps... they boys go back to school on Monday... Yay... :)
