67 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!

If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
January is National Hobby Month. On these cold days when so many of us stay indoors most of the time it is good to have a hobby. Many enjoy working jig saw puzzles, or needlework of some kind as they sit around the fire during the winter. Others play games or do crafts. There are any number of hobbies to enjoy. My favorite is probably reading. A good book will fill many hours with untold pleasure.
Scrapbooking, fishing, and model trains also make wonderful hobbies. The range of hobbies in the world is just about as diverse as the number of people on the globe. Whatever you do enjoy, I think it is important to have a hobby. Hobbies are aa great way to beat the winter blahs.
Today is life-the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto.
Dale Carnegie
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
For fast-acting relief try slowing down.
Lily Tomlin
According to various researchers hobbies can provide many hours of relief from stress. They can boost your self esteem and creativity, renew your passions, and give pleasure in your accomplishments. Hobbies are even reported to decrease depression. Even the busiest person should find something they enjoy doing and attempt to do it.
Hobbies provide us with a bit of quiet time that’s needed for us all to be our most productive selves and provide us with some solace and rejuvenation. Remember: The beauty of a hobby is you don’t actually have to be good at it, you simply have to enjoy it.
For a lot of people these days it seems like their only leisure activities are watching television and catching up on Facebook. A good hobby will allow you to do something that’s just for you, that can help you forget your daily problems, and unwind after a hard day
Don’t be afraid to try new things, and enjoy a hobby that provides you with a lot of fun and stress relief, too.
Besides reading, my next favorite hobby would be painting and todays pictures show a little of what I did for Christmas gifts this year.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday and hopefully get to enjoy your favorite hobby!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Once we discover how to appreciate the timeless values in our daily experiences, we can enjoy the best things in life.
Harry Hepner
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1307. for many hobbies to enjoy
1308. for the birds outside my window who bring liveliness into an otherwise bleak landscape
1309. for a plentiful supply of clean water as there have been waterline breaks around our city with the subzero temps

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

You did an excellent job on painting the Christmas ornaments for your family... With snowmen too... I have been trying to figure out this month, how to phase out of facebook so I can have more time to work on my other hobbies, like blogging... But for now I am off to work again... Have a Blessed Sunday! :)
All wonderful painting work you made for your family, Ma! Great theme with the snowmen! Always fun to have a hobby indeed. I am like you, I like reading when I have the time to do so after a work day. It is so relaxing to "get lost" in a good book!

Beautiful paintings you did an excellent job on those Christmas ornaments. I wish I could paint like that. I enjoy reading and have a bunch to catch up on. It has been slow go since before Christmas, but hope to get back to normal soon. Take care.
I like that countdown to spring!
And the hobbies are what gets me through...that and God. But the facebooking and Farmvilling, and reading, and photography and making graphics, and even cleaning and organizing. That is why I love my weekends! Hope you have a fun week ahead!
