74 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!
Sunrise:7:55 am
Sunset: 5:13 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
looking through the roof of the snow fort
Twelfth Night is January 5th, the last day of the Christmas Season. Today will have a feel of Christmas Eve, and because of the Epiphany's association with the Magis’ gift giving, tomorrow is often referred
to colloquially as the Little Christmas. Christmas is the beginning, and January 6, the feast of the Epiphany or Manifestation, is the climax.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The future lies before you, like paths of pure white snow. Be careful how you tread it, for every step will show.

Whether you are celebrating Epiphany today or 12th Night, it is certainly a day to celebrate. Our church celebrates Epiphany and so am I.
It’s an old custom to bless your house on Epiphany which is celebrated this year on Sunday, January 5, 2014.
The lintel above the door is marked.
20 + C + M + B + 14
The traditional marking of the doorway commemorates the three magi, traditionally named Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, and gives the calendar year already recently begun.
This is a custom that I’ve followed every year now for many years.
After a day of warming and a little sunshine, today we’ll probably be seeing more snow. The coming week looks like we’ll see some below zero temps once more. I’m sure I won’t like the looks of my next utility bills at all. I try to remember this too shall pass. Christmas is now past and longer days will eventually mean warmer days too.
The pictures are of DS#6 and our little Lucky Guy playing in the snow this past Thursday.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday!
Work of Christmas Begins
Howard Thurman, adapted
When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with the flocks,
then the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal those broken in spirit,
to feed the hungry,
to release the oppressed,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among all peoples,
to make a little music with the heart…
And to radiate the Light of Christ,
every day, in every way, in all that we do and in all that we say.
Then the work of Christmas begins.
The message of the Feast of Epiphany announces to all people, everywhere:
Rise up in splendor…your light has come,
The Glory of the Lord shines upon you!
Let the work of Christmas begin, and let it begin with you.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Snowmen fall from heaven... unassembled.
Author Unknown
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1286. for a break from below zero temps
1287. for my fleecy tops that keep me warmer
1288. for all the leftovers in the fridge, which means no need to cook.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

Advice is like snow -- the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

How come, I have no snow, and I still don't like the look of my utility bill... Adorable snow pictures... :)
So cute playing in the snow! That was interesting to read about the markings on the door, Ma; I didn't know that.
I'm with you about utility bills and I'm like Linda, we don't have snow, but every time the heater comes on, I cringe just a bit.
