ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MONDAY, MAY 9TH, 2022
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Lost Sock Memorial Day which celebrates a problem known to many people, a drawer full of socks and stockings, some of which no longer have a partner. The reason for the disappearance of single dogs is still one of the unsolved mysteries of the world.
Many devotees of Lost Sock Memorial day suggests we take the day to clean out our sock drawers and say good by to the wistful widows and sorrowful singles.
A sock is an item of clothing worn on the feet. The foot is among the heaviest producers of sweat and draw it to areas where air can evaporate the perspiration and the sock helps to absorb it. In cold environments, socks decrease the risk of frostbite. They are manufactured in a variety of colors, lengths and sizes.
To celebrate today clean out your sock drawer.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Some socks are loners. They can’t live in pairs.
Wendy Cope
I have a drawer in my dresser that is designated for singles socks that have no pair. So, today I’m going to clean it out and see if I can find any pairs in there. I probably will because sooner or later they do show up again. I never get rid of a single sock because eventually the mate will be found.
The week ahead is to be sunny and warmer with no rain expected until the weekend. We really need some time to dry out here. We may even see temps in the 80’s which is hard to believe after being as chilly as we have been.
Today is my day to cook up something new, although I do have leftovers from yesterday, I’ll just eat them for lunch.
On the menu for today is:
Chicken Pasta Caesar Salad
Makes 6 servings
3 cups uncooked whole wheat spirit pasta
6 cups torn romaine
3 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
2 tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup creamy Ceasar salad dressing
1/3 cup slivered almonds toasted, optional
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water and drain again. Toss with remaining ingredients; serve immediately. Drizzle with the Ceasar dressing. You can use the toasted almonds for garnish if desired.
2 cups salad makes 1 serving.
This sounds perfect for a warmer day to me. It’s one of my favorites!
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You know my feelings: every day is a gift. It’s just, does it have to be socks?
James Gandolfini
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
10,228. For socks to keep my feet warm
10,229. for a wonderful Mothers Day dinner thanks to DSIL
10,230. for warmer weather, it’s a plus for me
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
True love is like a pair of socks: you gotta have two and they’ve gotta match.
Erich Fromm
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I'm going to be celebrate today pairing up some single socks in my drawer and I'm going to enjoy a delicious salad for dinner !
Who knew there was a single sock celebration Day. I rarely wear socks so should just get rid of those I have. The salad sounds delicious!
Well a couple years ago I solved my problem of the single sock by ordering a doz pairs of the same design. Now when one gets a hole in it the holey one becomes a cleaning sock and the other patiently awaits a surviving sock as a mate. LOL Socks become a primary tool for cleaning THIS motor HOME FLOOR. lol
THE BEST TO YOU ON FINDING THAT lost SOCK. Love from Florida ,,,,
What a cute post! I'm giggling, both at the Lost Sock Memorial Day and the quote. Reading what Jack said, now I'm wishing I'd hung onto several loners to use for cleaning. Waste not, want not.
