ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MONDAY, MAY 2ND, 2022
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Truffle Day which are a delicious chocolate candy. According to legend, a man named Louis Dufour invented the chocolate truffle in Chambray, France in 1895. A few years later Antoine Dufour opened the Prestat Chocolate Shop in London. Historians believe this chocolate shop was responsible for popularizing chocolate truffles in England and beyond, but the relationship between Louis and Antoine is uncertain.
Ronald Dahl, the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a huge fan of the Prestat truffles.
The first recipes for chocolate truffles appeared in the 1920’s. Today there are three main types — American, European, and Swiss. Each type of truffle has a slightly different twist, but they all include a creamy ganache filling and a topping like cocoa, coconut, or drizzled chocolate.
To celebrate today, pick up a selection of delicious truffles from your local candy store. Enjoy !
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Nobody knows the truffles I’ve seen.
George Lang
I have chocolate here but no truffles. To me they are the top of line when it comes to chocolate. Rich, creamy and delicious. So for today I’m going to make it a mission to find some truffles to enjoy. A trip to the candy store is on my list of things to do. Sorry I don’t have any other pictures of chocolate truffles today, only the 1st one to show
Also on the list is making something new for dinner and on the menu today is:
Sheet Pan Sausage and Peppers
Makes 4 servings
1 red onion sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 orange bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper sliced
1 sliced fennel bulb, optional
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/8 tsp salt
1, 12 oz pkg italian style smoked sausage
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp. torn fresh basil
1/2tsp. crushed red pepper
Place a rimmed baking sheet in oven, Preheat oven to 425 degrees, Toss together, onion, bell peppers, fennel if using, oil.and salt and pepper in a large bowl.
Arrange vegetable mixture in a single layer on preheated baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven until vegetables begin to soften.
Remove baking sheet from oven and toss vegetable mixture. Add sausage to baking sheet. Return to oven and bake at 425 degrees until sausage is warmed thru and vegetables are tender. Remove from oven, sprinkle with cheese, basil and crushed red pepper.
Serving size is 1 link sausage, and 3/4 cup vegetables. I’ll be having mine on a bun for a sandwich for dinner. It’s one of my favorites.
The Italian sausage I have is not smoked so I’ll be browning mine first before adding to the pepper mixture. I don’t have any fennel so I’ll be leaving that out of my recipe. I really don’t like the taste anyway.
As promised we are back in the 50’s again but at least it is not raining today!
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All you need is love. But a litle chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.

Enjoy a chocolate truffle today and celebrate !
I am not sure if I have ever eaten a truffle, but they sure sound good, even for someone who is not a chocoholic, LOL. However I used to eat a lot of sausage, mama used to make sausage at hog killing time. Of course it was many years before I had 'Italian' sausage.
Always enjoy our visit to MA's house. Love from Florida....
That sausage and pepper recipe sounds so good! Tom's a real chocolate lover; I don't know that he's ever had a truffle. Maybe the Ferrero Rocher ones that come in the pretty gold foil; not sure if they're considered truffles. Please let us know if you discovered any while at the candy store!
