ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FRIDAY, MAY 13TH, 2022
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Apple Pie Day which celebrates the quintessential American Dessert. However, apple pie wasn’t actually invented in the U.S. Rather it was invented n Europe sometime during the 14th century. The first apple pie recipe was printed by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1391 in England. The ingredients included apples, spices, raisins, figs, pears and saffron which was all enveloped in a pastry crust.
Several Dutch apple pie recipes date back to the late 15th century. They were similar to the English recipes, except that they added a scoop of ice cream placed on top before being served. This tradition of apple pie a la mode, eventually caught on in America. Today many people continue to enjoy their warm pie topped with ice cream.
To celebrate today, bake a delicious Apple pie or pick one up at your local bakery to have for dessert tonight. Don’t forget the ice cream!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Always look on the bright cider life.

I love apple pie but probably won’t be having one today. I’m at DD’s house and she doesn’t have the ingredients to make one. So I’ll have to wait until I’m home again. Still I will celebrate today because I love them so.
My grandson has a soccer game tonight so we’ll be having a simple supper before he goes. I’ll fix whatever he prefers. As for me, I’ll probably have a grilled cheese. He likes them too so maybe he’ll also have one . We’ll see. His coach is to pick him up, so I don’t have to go. I’ll just sit here and wait for his return. DD has it all figured out. I think she made arrangements ahead of time so all I have to do is take it easy.
This afternoon I go to my follow up appointment with my eye doctor and it should be a good one Everything is going well and the eye is doing good. DS#5 will be picking me up and taking me. We should get back home before their son arrives home from school, but she made a back up plan in case we were late . Her cousin across the street will look after him until I see him..
The weather had been good so the soccer game should still be on. I think the rain moves back in our way on Saturday.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

An apple is always the best medicine !
We were sorta wondering about today's entry, thought you would be much later. Sounds like that DD has things planned well. THAT is nice. I guess you still are in the 'DROPS' stage of the eye surgery. The eye drips were actually the toughest thing about the surgery for me. But Sherry kept me on schedule.
Hoping all is will, be safe and relax. From /Florida lave ;-)
PS: We do like apple pie, but my memory of the best were mama's fried apple pies. Delicious....
Apple pie is perfect for any event.
We lived in Ireland for a few years. On July 4, we Americans had a BBQ, potato salad, apple pie. They brought an Irish apple tart. They like the Irish tart. Our pie had too much spice.
I've not made an apple pie since 11th grade Home Ec! That's Tom favorite, but truth be told, I love the crust best.
It sounds like your daughter's thought of every eventuality. Enjoy!
