The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
Life is a special occasion!
Today is National Son and Daughter Day which is the perfect opportunity to celebrate your sons and daughters. The origin of this holiday can be traced back t 1936 Missouri. A man called J. Henry Dusenberry first circulated the idea after hearing a young child ask why there was no holiday for sons and daughters. His efforts caught on and by 1945 people observed the holiday in as much as 22 states.
To celebrate, parents displayed flowers in the homes to recognize each of their children.
Celebrate today by spending some time with your family, share a meal and show your love and appreciation for them. Always remember let your kids know how much they mean to you.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
The family is one of nature’s masterpieces.
George Santayana
My children all to do mean a lot to me. They are my life and the reason I have for living. I love and am very proud of each of them.
I always dreamed of having a large family and was blessed with seven. 6 boys and 1 daughter. Another of my dreams came true yesterday as I got my first and only tattoo. I’ve become a celebrity of the tattoo shop I went to for being the oldest person they’ve ever given a tattoo. The minute I walked in, they wanted to know how old I was. I was very excited and not nervous,They made me feel welcomed and very special.
Getting a tattoo hasn’t always been on my wish list, but I’ve been thinking about things I haven’t done in my life and have started a list. We’ll see what might come next. I’m sure it will be just as exciting. I know some of my children were shocked and others were pleased.
I wanted something simple and pretty so I decided on a rose, for my mother and a sunflower for me. The two are next each other and connected by one stem, which says, One day at a time. I love that old hymn and since the death of DDH, I have lived by that motto. The tattoo is on the inside of my left wrist, and is maybe 2 to 3 inches long.
Taking only one day at a time is the best way to live. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised, so we should enjoy each day when it comes and do the best we can with what we’re given.
DD is working again today and it’s going to be a quiet and lazy Sunday. I always try to get a Sunday nap and read some more books. We all need a day like this, but truthfully, I don’t do much else any other day of the week.
The pictures today are from our last big family reunion. I have shared them with you all before, but they are the best example of my large family.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you , as you are to them.
Desmond Tutu
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
12,581. for my sons and daughter
12,582. for a great tattoo on my wrist.
12,583. for a daughter who takes good care of me.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Family: We don't have it altogether, but together we have it all!
I didn't realize there was a son or daughter's day either. I thought they were separate. I have one of each - you have a lot of wonderful kids.
