The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
Life is a special occasion!
Today is Ride the Wind Day which celebrates the anniversary of the first human powered flight to win the Kremer prize. The Kremer prizes are a series of monetary awards that are given to pioneers of human powered flight. The first prize was won by Dr. Paul MacCready when his Gossamer Condor was the first human powered aircraft to fly a figure eight around two markers one half mile apart, starting and ending the course at least 10 feet above ground.
Wind is the flow of gases on a large scale. On the surface of the Earth, wind consists of the bulk movement of the air. Wind figures predomiently in several popular sports, hang gliding, hot air ballooning, kite flying, snowkiting, Kite land boarding, kite surfing, paragliding, sailing, and windsurfing. In gliding, wind gradients just above the surface effect the take off and landing phases of a glider.
For aerodynamic aircraft which operate relative to the air, wind affects groundspeed and in the case of lighter vehicles, wind may play a significant or solitary role in their movement and ground track.
A simple way to celebrate today would be to fly a kite or a basic paper glider. Have fun!

We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

I have never participated in any air sports other than flying a kite. I have enjoyed seeing hot air balloons in the sky but have never ridden one. The only flying I’ve done is in a commercial airplane. I do love the feeling of wind in my face especially on a hot day. On our porch, there is always a breeze blowing.
It is looking like today may be our last day of heat advisories for awhile. The days ahead will be in the 90’s not the 100’s.
When I moved here I did bring a lot of my summer clothes which included lightweight pants and capri sets, but this summer I’ve been wearing sundresses and shorts and tank tops to keep cool. I wore the other things in the spring and maybe will wear them again in the fall. I’ve had to rethink my wardrobe.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
A light wind swept over the corn, and all nature laughed in the sunshine!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
12,617.for the wind and the fun sports it provides
12,618. for cooling breezes
12,619.for shorts, tank tops and sundresses
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Celebrate today and fly a kite. Enjoy the wind in your face !
I'm not so fond of air travel, but sure enjoy watching the hot air balloons. One of my former coworkers actually proposed to his wife while riding in one. We're experiencing what the meteorologist calls "faux Fall." Our temps will rise again next week, but for now I'm enjoying! Happy Friday!
Hot air balloon?
No way Jose!
I remember flying a kite
as a child having a weird feeling
when it got really high
one time it got away from me
I lunged for it & retrieved it
I think that was the only time
I got a hole in the knee of my jeans
