THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The Eagle has landed.
Neil Armstrong
I was alive and watching TV at the time of the Moon Walk and will never forget it. What a major accomplishment! Space travel was relativley new to all of us and landing on the moon was big news!
The pictures today come form DS#5 when he and his family visited Washington DC and the National Aviation Museum.
Today is my day to cook up something new and on the menu today is:
Shrimp and Crab Casserole
Makes 8 servings
2 packages ready to serve long grain and wild rice
1/4 cup butter, cubed
2 celery ribs, chopped
1 onion, chopped
3 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 cups, half and half cream
1 tsp. seafood seasoning
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 lbs uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined.
2 cans lump crabmeat, drained
1 cup shredded Coby-Monterey Jack cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Spread rice in a baking dish. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium hight heat. Add celery and onion and stir until tender. Stir in flour until blended and gradually whisk in cream. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, cook and stir until thickened.
Stir in seafood seasoning, salt, pepper sauce and pepper. Fold in shrimp and crab. Spoon over rice. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered, until shrimp turns pink, about 45 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
Today I’m using just the crab meat and cutting this recipe in half as it serves 8. I only have cheddar cheese so I’ll be using that. I’m also omitting the hot sauce as I like my food mild.
Since it’s hot out, I’m going to use the toaster oven which saves heating the kitchen up. It sounds like a great casserole to me and something different too.
We had a lot of rain yesterday and today we’re to get more, but the weekend is supposed to be dry but still very hot out. I’m thankful the sun will be shinning.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
It’s a great thing for a man to walk on the moon. But its a greater thing for God to walk on earth.
Neil Armstrong
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
10,492. for Neil Armstrong, a brave space explorer
10,493. for a new recipe to try out
10,494. for a sunny weekend
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Shoot for the stars but if you happen to miss shoot for the moon instead.
Neil Armstong
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Neil Armstrong is one of our Ohio heros!
I, too, watched in awe as Armstrong and Aldrin set foot on the moon's surface. Heck, I get goosebumps just remembering. Both they -- and all astronauts -- are so brave. Heroes.
I think your grands are the perfect age to learn about space travel; how fortunate they were able to see the Aviation Museum in person!
