ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Feed The Birds Day which is an opportunity to begin a new and fun hobby …bird watching. Place a feeder in a location where it can be seen from indoors. Make sure to keep it full of seeds all the time. Once birds are attracted to you feeder, they become dependent on the seeds in your feeder.
Mid and late winter are especially hard on wildlife. Food sources become scarcer for the wild birds that winter in your backyard. What little food that is available can get buried under the snow. You can help them to survive by feeding them and that is exactly why this day was created.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
God gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest.
J.G. Holland
Watching the birds at bird feeders is a fun thing to do . It’s something I haven’t’ started since I moved and I do miss it. But I did notice that the Blue Jays enjoyed the acorns which are all over the ground here. With a huge oak tree on either side of me there is no lack of food for them or the squirrels.
Even though it was very cold out yesterday, I got out for awhile as I needed milk and there was a new store that opened up close by so I wanted to check it out. I’d been in the house all week and it was time I got out. While there is always plenty to do, it’s nice to just get out and look around.
Today I’m hoping to get some baking done. I have the usual ripe bananas on hand to use up and they shouldn’t go to waste. Otherwise it is looking to be another quiet weekend here. I’m not complaining, I love these quiet days. They are much preferred over some others I’ve had.
For lack of pictures of birds, today’s pictures are of the ones that sit on the shelves here at my house.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s International Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day which is a day to do something weird, odd and quirky. It’s mid winter and the snow and cold seem like it will never come to an end. Hopefully eating ice cream for breakfast will lift your spirits and help to make winter go by a little quicker.
Truthfully I don’t eat as much ice cream in the winter as I do in the summer months, but I looked for ways to enjoy ice cream at breakfast and this is what I came up with:
Your pancakes and waffles will become a whole lot better with a scoop of ice cream on top.
Waffle With the Works
Take a freshly made waffle and top with ice cream, then a generous portion of strawberry, blueberry. apple cinnamon or banana walnut topping and whipped cream.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
In almost everything that touches our every day life on earth, God is pleased when we’re pleased. He wills that we be as free as birds to soar and sing our maker’s praise without anxiety.
A W. Tozer
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5680. for birds to watch, cheap entertainment
5681. for a breath of fresh air, although very cold out
5682. for ice cream, a quick dessert
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang the best.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

We feed the birds everyday! They also love the fresh water we put out for them. xx
Birds can be such comedians, sometimes! Yes, it's fascinating to watch their interactions, even their position in larger congregations.
Ice cream on a waffle for breakfast sounds like a super way to a child's heart! (Even if that child is nearly 76 y/o!)
