Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Go For a Ride Day is celebrated on November 22, 2015. It is a day to get out into the world and take a ride, for example, with your bike, your car, or your shoes. As we approach the start of the holiday season, Go For a Ride Day provides us with a chance to relax before the stress and pandemonium of the holidays seep into our souls. Wherever you go, take advantage of the scenery and explore the outdoor world.
Don’t worry about where you’re going today, just enjoy the journey!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter.
Izaak Walton
The only ride I’ll be taking will be a short one.. Yesterday I did enough riding to last me for a while. Thanks to my SIL for doing the driving. We traveled quite a ways to get to DS#1’s house for our family gathering. They say we could see snow today, so I’m all for staying in and keeping warm.
I really had a great time yesterday with the family and am sending a big THANK YOU to DS#1 and his family for hosting such a wonderful get together !
I found some pictures of a ride I took last fall about this time and there was snow on the ground so that is what you are seeing in this post. Thanks to my BIL doing the driving, I could really enjoy the beautiful countryside.
Today is my day to rest and after the busyness of the week and the trip yesterday, I really need it.
I hope you all have RESTFUL and relaxing Sunday !

32 Days Until Christmas
A black and white twist on the familiar Peanut Blossoms, Zebra Cookies are a chocolate holiday treat you might want to try out this year.
Fudgy chocolate cookie dough replaces the familiar peanut butter flavor, while a zebra chocolate kiss , otherwise known as hugs, carries out the theme. The dough is rolled in powdered sugar for a fresh take on an old favorite.
2 1/8 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 package striped chocolate kiss candies
In small saucepan, heat chocolate squares over low heat until melted, stirring constantly. Or, place chocolate squares in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave 20 seconds at a time until melted, stirring often.
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bowl beat butter and granulated sugar with electric mixer until fluffy. Beat in eggs until mixture is pale yellow, then add vanilla and chocolate until blended. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing just to blend.
Refrigerate dough about 1 hour.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape heaping teaspoonfuls dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Roll in confectioner's sugar.
Place 1 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake 8 minutes.
Remove from oven. Firmly press chocolate kiss into center of cookie. Return to oven and bake 3 to 4 minutes. Do not overbake. Cookies are soft when hot but firm and chewy when cool.
Remove to rack to cool.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling, don't overlook it.

Those zebra cookies look yummy :) Glad you had a nice celebration yesterday, Ma :) It is always good when someone else does the driving; I'm not one that likes to drive far distances these days, rather be a passenger. I know Koda certainly enjoyed all the car rides he got :)
I hope it is a restful day for you!

Hats off to your DS #1 and his family for hosting yesterday's celebration. That had to be an undertaking!
I always used to be up for a road trip ... any road trip. Nowadays, not so much ... especially with the crazy or distracted drivers. 'Glad you made it there and home again safely!
How wonderful that you were able to have a nice celebration yesterday! Family times are the best of times. Loving the cookies. I will have to try to find something which we can sub for it over here! When I was a child a drive on a Sunday was a favourite activity. You brought back some happy memories for me to think about! Love and hugs and enjoy your Sunday! xoxo
I am trying to appreciate everyone I encounter on my days... sometimes it's hard! I had a peaceful day here, too.
