Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
On November 14th each year, World Diabetes Day aims to increase an awareness of the effects of diabetes and the complications caused by the disease. It is celebrated in many countries around the world. Diabetes has two forms. The first is Juvenile,Type 1, Diabetes. The second is Adult Onset,Type 2, Diabetes.
Diabetes is a growing problem in children and adults. Many see it as a looming crisis in America, due to our diets, and more sedentary lifestyles. In the case of Type 2, it usually can be avoided or delayed with diet and exercise.
The day chosen was the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, a medical scientist who codiscovered Insulin
and was the first person to use it on humans.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not.
Mark Twain
I know quite a few people that have diabetes and it has brought many changes in their way of life. Since food is a big part of our daily living, having to change what you eat isn’t always easy. Those with families to cook for find it especially challenging.
Exercise is an important factor too. I know that these days I don’t even get half of what I should. After many years of being on the go, my life has changed to living in the slow lane and everything I do, I do slowly now.
The important thing we should remember is that the only way to live is to keep moving forward. Doing a little whether with eating healthier or getting a few more steps in than usual, is better than nothing at all.
Healthy, nutritious choices include whole grains, dried beans, peas, and lentils, fruits, vegetables, nonfat or low fat dairy, and lean meats, such as fish and poultry. These foods are high in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and lean protein, and low in saturated fat, cholesterol, and refined sugar.
Healthier food choices aren't only good for people with diabetes. They're good for everyone. Remember to get up, move around often and drink plenty of water for a healthier lifestyle.
I’ll be off to a birthday party for two of my beautiful granddaughters today. Along with some gifts, I’ll have some cheese and crackers to share. The great thing is that I’ll also be receiving plenty of hugs and kisses and butterfly wishes.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day
Henry David Thoreau
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3310. for days that make us aware and healthier
3311. for plenty of good food to eat
3312. for daily exercise, even if it is in the slow lane
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
40 Days Until Christmas
This Texas Praline treat dates from the days when Christmas memories had to be made with little more than some nuts from the backyard trees.
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, unsalted
1 cup pecan halves
Combine milk and sugars in a large saucepan. Boil to the thread stage.
Add butter, vanilla and pecans, and cook over medium heat to the soft ball stage.
Remove pan from heat. Beat candy immediately until it thickens. Quickly drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

Cheese and crackers are always great to bring to a gathering :) I know you'll "soak" up the hugs and kisses :)
Diabetes is such a tough disease; it affects so many organs of the body; good to be aware of making wise food choices to hopefully avoid getting it indeed.

Thankfully, diabetes has not (yet) affected those I love. But it's good to spread awareness!
Have a delight-full time with your birthday girls today!
Love your fall decorations... I like that: as long as we are moving, even if it's slow, we are still moving... I have a Saturday off today and I am moving slowly through my chores and some relaxing... Enjoy the Happy Birthdays!!! :)
Eating the right things are critical. I can surely tell you that. Was able to eat more today. Hope you had some good birthdayin'!
