Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today, the first Saturday in November, is Book Lovers Day. Book reading is a great hobby. It's an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter, and happier people.
Book Lovers Day is a great day to celebrate. Just grab an interesting book, find a quiet, cozy place, and crack open the cover.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life. The conviction of the rich that the poor are happier is no more foolish than the conviction of the poor that the rich are.
Mark Twain
Every day is book lovers day here at my house. I have a lot of books and spend a lot of time reading them. I’ve love reading for just about as long as I can remember. Books are filled with so many different things that they can’t help but make my life a little fuller.
I have knitting books, crocheting books and craft books of all kinds. I love reading fiction books, most of which are romance sprinkled with a little mystery and suspense and most of them are historical in nature too. I also have loads of inspirational books, and Bible study helps. I have a whole cupboard full of cookbooks too. I have spent many hours pouring over recipes while making up menus for my family.
My mom was a good cook and I learned a lot from her, but my family experienced foods on table that I never had as a child. One of everyone’s favorites is lasagna found in a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook many years ago.
Whether it’s a novel of some kind or a cookbook, there’s a lot of good reading inside a book.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Let books be your dining table,
And you shall be full of delights
Let them be your mattress
And you shall sleep restful nights.

I too enjoy reading, Ma. I don't have the cookbooks but get a lot of my recipes online these days. Hubby's mom would buy a cookbook from new areas she visited, recipes from that area. Not sure if she made too many of them, but I think she enjoyed looking through them. Nowadays I do tend to do a lot of my reading on my tablet but still enjoy holding a "regular" book now and then :)
Have a great Saturday!

Since I was a child, reading was a Passion ... to the point I was actually a brat about it.
Unfortunately, since events of 2013 I've been unable to focus for any length of time, and books fell by the way. I'm going to make that a priority in the new year ... even if I have to start with baby steps.
Even tho' I don't do much cooking, I wouldn't take for my mother's (and her mother's) cookbooks ... the occasional hand-written remarks in the margins!
