THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Wind chimes in your yard will serenade garden creatures — squirrels, fairies and angels.

I believe good things happen, and I believe in happy endings. I believe that fairy tales come true. I do love wind chimes have several wind chimes here at my house. Some are inside, some are outside. I love to hear them when the wind blows. To me they are always peaceful and soothing. Listening to my fairy wind chimes is a great way to relax and unwind at any time of day or night!
Fairy tales not only have happy endings, but also teach moral values. Remember the fairy tale about Cinderella, it can teach us to act appropriately even when surrounded by bad behavior. Cinderella was often treated unfairly and unkindly by those around her, but her decision to remain kind and thoughtful was eventually rewarded. It’s about kindness and forgiveness, and sticking to your life ethos no matter what confronts you, which somehow, like that glass slipper, it fits just right.
Fairies and other magical wee folk have long been fixtures in fables, myths and ancient folklore. Long since medieval times, mystical fairies have flitted across gardens world wide. Fairies are magical miniature creatures of good will that bring luck, prosperity, and good health to the chosen few who's garden they inhabit. Fairies are playful jovial creatures that enjoy a good prank and will frolic about with glee in your garden when you're not looking. So keep your eyes open, you may just find one in your garden this summer.
June 24th is also known as Midsummer Day. Although Midsummer Day occurs near the summer solstice, or what we think of as the beginning of summer, to the farmer it is the midpoint of the growing season, halfway between planting and harvesting, and an occasion for celebration. Although it's also the feast day of St. John the Baptist. Certainly, it's a night of magic and soothsaying as well, for as Washington Irving said, this is a time when it is well known all kinds of ghosts, goblins, and fairies become visible and walk abroad.
After Midsummer Day, the days shorten. In Lithuanian tradition, the dew on Midsummer Day was said to make young girls beautiful and old people look younger. It was also thought that walking barefoot in the dew would keep one's skin from getting chapped. It was customary to honor all men named John on this day by fixing wreaths of oak leaves around their doors. This is usually done in secret, and John must guess who did it or catch the person in the act, in which case he must give the person a treat.
Summer brings magical days into our lives.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
If we opened our minds to enjoyment, we might find tranquil pleasures spread about us on every side. We might live with the angels that visit us on every sunbeam, and sit with the fairies who wait on every flower.
Samuel Smiles
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

I like wind chimes too. They can make such pretty sounds when the wind blows. I do like when there are happy endings; I think we all like that at the end of a book or movie. That is interesting about Midsummer Day that afterwards the days shorten. I think I can already see some of that here in how early it used to be light here in the morning and now it doesn't seem that light that early.

What a delightful post. I do like fairies, and happy endings. I have fairies in my gardens, and also fairy gardens. The fairies leave special surprises for my grandkids when they spend time here in the summer. Usually pretty little seashells for their collections. I also like wind chimes. They do cause my soul to relax and enjoy the melodies set about by the breezes.
Enjoy this season of fireflies, fairies, and wind chimes....I wish it could last forever.

The feast of St John the Baptist... I did not know. I had a Lives of the Saints at one time, but it has been lost in a move.
