Life is a Special Occasion!

With the official start of summer just a few days away, the timing is perfect for National Iced Tea Day, which is always celebrated on June 10th.
Chances are, it is already hot in your area. Today may serve as a good reminder to make and enjoy your first of many Iced Tea drink of the season. Have it plain, add a little lemon, or sweeten it with sugar. Iced Tea is certainly a favorite summer cooler of millions of Americans. And best of all, tea is good for your health!
It takes no imagination to decide how to enjoy this great day: Grab an Iced Tea and head out to the hammock strung under a shady tree.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Iced tea is too pure and natural a creation not to have been invented as soon as tea, ice, and hot weather crossed paths.
John Egerton
I’ve been enjoying those glasses of Iced Tea for quite awhile now. When it’s cold out I drink hot tea but when it warms up, I put some ice in it.
Tea is one of those things that is very good for you and it’s soothing and relaxing too. When I’m here at home the easiest way I make my tea is by using the k cups in my one cup coffee machine. You simply put ice in the cup and brew the tea over it. When I expect some company, I’ll brew a whole pitcher of it.
Homemade Iced Tea
6 to 8 tea bags
1 quart hot water
1 quart cold water
1/2 cup sugar or 1/4 cup honey, optional
Iced tea is one of those delicious flavors that just makes the summer time seem worth while. It has all of the caffeine of soda pop, but with none of the artificial bubbly junk. Iced Tea is natural, honest, and infinitely cheap.
For a recipe that's as basic as it is, there's still quite a bit of room for error. Steep for too long and the drink will become tannic and bitter. Only add sugar when the tea is still hot otherwise it won't dissolve as quickly and evenly. Make sure to use filtered water. The final product will always be better because of what you put in it.
Don't just use any old container. For best results, make and store the tea in a glass container such as a pitcher or Mason jar. Plastics absorb and release flavors, and metal will give the drink a metallic taste.
There are also many Southern cooks insist that adding a pinch of baking soda to the hot water as the tea bags are added will result in a superior tea. They say that it takes all the bitterness away. I’ve not tried that one yet.
Relaxing with a good glass of Iced Tea is one of my favorite activities on a hot day. Hope you can too.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Imagine a delicious glass of summer iced tea.
Take a long cool sip. Listen to the ice crackle and clink.
Is the glass part full or part empty?
Take another sip.
And now?

2841. for hot tea and iced tea, good and good for you
2842. for my jar like glass with a lid on it, it keeps the bugs at bay when you are outside
2843. for my patio table and chairs on the porch, it is a comfortable place to sit.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Iced tea! Nothing is half so refreshing as a glass of black tea piled high with ice! More than a quencher of thirst, it is a tamer of tempers, a lifter of lethargy, and a brightener of smiles. It is a taste of Winter’s chill, magically trapped in midsummer’s glass.

That is interesting about adding a pinch of baking soda when making tea. I hadn't heard of that before. Hubby and son drank a lot of iced tea last summer, haven't gotten back to making it this summer as of yet. We have the perfect patio for sun tea so might have to do that soon :)

Oh, I love tea. Adore it....hot or cold. I don't drink sodas of any kind so tea is a real treat for me.
Hope your day is blessed....it is raining here. Yikes!

Oh, I do love iced tea. One thing that I miss being LDS, although I do make herbal varieties which are also very good! Thanks for all that you share and have a fab Thursday! xoxo
