Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Red Rose Day, a time to enjoy and appreciate America's favorite flower… the red rose. A red rose signifies love. A June setting for Red Rose Day is very appropriate, as this is by far the most popular month for weddings. And, they are in bloom in the gardens across America this month.
In addition to being the most popular cut flower, roses are also the most popular flower in flower beds and around foundation of houses, garages and sheds. They are easy to grow, producing a bounty of sweet scented flowers from June up to the first frost.
You can celebrate Red Rose Day by buying red roses for someone special or planting roses around your yard.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives you roses.
Proverb
I do love roses and have a red rose bush right outside my back door. It’s been full of buds for what seems like weeks now and has taken it’s time blooming. It will bloom for the rest of the summer and into the fall until the frost comes.
The past two winters have been harsh ones and I’ve been amazed to see this rose bush bounce back at all. I used to never have to cut back any dead wood at all, but this year and last had to cut it back almost to the ground yet, it has grown and is now ready to burst forth in blooms. I think you’d call that a blooming miracle.
It always reminds me of a friend, as the rose bush was given as a gift to me many years ago. Friendships do grow and bloom over the years, just as this rose bush does.
The June birth flower is the Red Rose and we have a couple of those coming up soon too.
Remember we must all take time out to stop and smell the roses!
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.

Such pretty roses!! They always smell so good too! Glad your rose bush is a hardy one and keeps coming back after the harsh winters. It is neat too that it was a gift from a friend. I bet you do enjoy it as it blooms through summer and winter :)

I have not had roses in years, but I think it's time! Mine will be old-fashioned, but I love red.
We are careening between way too hot and milder temps today here.... it was a welcome respite.
Loving your roses Pam! Todd has a beautiful rose garden Pam, with roses of many, many colours. I love that they are the plant that just keeps on giving, often on into the Winter months, at least hear in the UK at any rate! Thanks for all that you share and have a wonderful weekend! xoxo
