Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
June 30th is Meteor Watch Day, a time to look to the skies for meteor showers. Meteors are space dust and ice that enter the earth's atmosphere. Meteors can be as small as specks of dust. As they enter the atmosphere at high speeds, they burn up, producing light as they streak across the night sky. Sometimes, you see them streak across the sky and disappear at the horizon. Other times, they end suddenly, burning out right before your eyes. They are also call a shooting star. Legend has it that if you wished upon a shooting star the wish would come true.
With a little luck, you can see a meteor just about any night of the year. But, the best times to see meteors is during a meteor shower. There are a number of them each year. The best annual show is the Perseid Meteor shower each August.
Enjoy Meteor Watch day as you scan the night skies in search of meteors. Sure hope you see some tonight!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There wouldn't be a sky full of stars if we were all meant to wish on the same one.
Frances Clark.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done any star gazing. These days I’m ready for bed by the time it gets dark out. I really do need to do it though before the summer is over. One more thing to add to my summer bucket list*.
My summer bucket list.
Sit on the porch in the early AM and the late PM, enjoying coffee or iced tea
Take a walk on a beach, barefoot in the sand
Eat popsicles
Take tons of photos
Picnic in the park
farmers market
watch the sunset
spend part of every sunny day outside
Watch the sunrise
Eat watermelon
Try a new fresh salad recipe
*DO some star gazing
I’ve got a great start on my list, but summer isn’t over yet. I’m sure there’ll be lots more I’ll want to do.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to live and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.
Henry Van Dyke
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
2901. for falling stars to wish upon
2902. for so many things to enjoy in the summertime
2903. for red popsicles, they are my favorite !
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.
Les Brown
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I do like your summer bucket list, Ma :) Star gazing is always fun, especially when one recognizes constellations or other star configurations. I am not sure I've seen a meteor shower, but have seen fallen stars :)
