Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
On the heels of Valentine's Day, another special day in February is dedicated to love. Get ready to pamper that pooch or cuddle the kitty, folks! Feb. 20th is Love Your Pet Day, an annual howliday devoted to all our furry friends!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.
George Eliot
I’ve had lots of pets and have loved them all. Right now though the only pets in my life are those of my children. Most of them have at least one pet and many have more than one.
Pets are wonderful companions, but we also need to remember they need lots of love and attention just like the other members of our family do. There came a time in my life that I just had to say no more pets. I’m just thankful that I still have some in my life thanks to my children.
February 20th is also national Cherry Pie Day. I do love my cherries and here at my house I think I’ll be cooking up a pie here today. Last week I had a pineapple upside down cake to feast on and this week I’ll enjoy some cherries. Fruit, fresh or canned and baked up into a wonderful dessert tastes extra good in the wintertime.
IMPOSSIBLE CHERRY PIE
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons softened butter
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 large eggs
1/2 cups baking mix
1/4 cup sugar
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease pie plate, 10 x 1 1/2 inches. Beat all ingredients except pie filling until smooth, 15 seconds in blender on high or 1 minute with hand beater. Pour into plate. Spoon pie filling evenly over top. Bake until brown, Cool refrigerate any remaining pie.
I couldn’t remember if I shared this recipe before or not. Forgive me if it’s a repeat. It is one of my favorites so maybe I have.
The pictures today are of the snow here before the melting began. Taken on Tuesday this week.
Hope you all have a great day! Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Roger Caras
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1424. for a good cherry pie
1425. for our furry friends
1426. for snow that is melting
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Dogs laugh, but they laugh with their tails.
Max Eastman
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Your snow looks like mine. I saw a little peek of green yesterday. I only have Walker the cat now, but miss having a dog, but like you I have granddogs and plenty of them. The pie is worth repeating again and again.
I am so glad your snow is melting... and what a wonderful day to celebrate our pets! 29 days until spring!
"On The Bright Side" has been included in the Sites To See for this week. Be assured that I hope this helps to point many new visitors in your direction.
