President's Day, celebrated today, February 17th, is a day set aside to honor all of the U.S. presidents. We often think of two great presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln when we celebrate this holiday, as it falls by design between their birthdays. More and more of us, look at this day as a tribute to each and every person who has ever served in the office of the President of the United States of America. It is a national holiday,. While Federal employees, the post office, schools, and banks have the day off, most businesses and industry do not recognize it as a paid holiday.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Lincoln had faith in time, and time has justified his faith.
Benjamin Harrison
President’s day has become one of those Monday holidays that is celebrated every year. It wasn’t always like this. We used to celebrate the two Presidents, Lincoln and Washington, birthdays separately. For many it’s a 3 day weekend and much appreciated. But there are also those that will still have to work. Hope you are one of the lucky ones. Having worked for many years I know just how much a 3 day weekend is appreciated .
Anymore though here at my house it’s always a long weekend…there are many times I have to look at the calendar just to make sure of what day it is. I’ve never been one to stick to a schedule where you do washing on Monday and ironing on Tuesday etc. I just do things as needed. Now about the only thing that sets a day apart is that I do go to church on Sundays or at least I try to. This winter it’s been a challenge for me to do so. What I do a lot of days has depended on the weather.
What ever you do today, I hope it will be a good one for you! Happy Monday!
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
Theodore Roosevelt
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Honesty is the first chapter of the book of wisdom.
Thomas Jefferson
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1415. for all our Presidents, may they preserve our freedoms
1416. for the USA, I love my country
1417. for the red white and blue, long may it wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
George Washington is the only president who didn't blame the previous administration for his troubles.

The school districts here make this a 4 day weekend, closing on Fridays before President's Day so the kids are enjoying a nice long break :) For some reason too, son's shop where he works closed today too, which is rare for them to close on a "minor" holiday like this. I remember us growing up having both Lincoln's birthday off and then a few weeks later Washington's.
Enjoy your Monday Ma!
