THOUGHT FOR TODAY
English is a funny language; that explains why we park our car on the driveway and drive our car on the parkway.

I only speak and read one language and that is English. Having had paternal grandparents that came from another country, I often wished I’d learned their language. That never happened. They do say it is easier to teach young children different languages and many grow up speaking and reading several languages. But today is all about your mother language.
My mother came from a different state and when I’d visit my grandparents there, they would sometimes make fun of the way I talked. They had a different way of speaking even though we all spoke English. We sometimes tell where people come from by listening to them talk. New Englanders have a different way of speaking than do those from the South.
After the onslaught of very windy and rainy weather yesterday, we are now seeing our temps go back down, Yesterday we were in the low 50’s, today we’ll be in the upper 30’s for a high. At least the rain is to end. We are quite soggy here.
Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The kindest word in all the world is the unkind word, unsaid.
Author Unknown
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
It's a strange world of language in which skating on thin ice can get you into hot water.

A bit of love from someone dear…

My grandparents were Polish and never learned to speak English when the immigrated here. My mom was bilingual but she never taught us the language. It would have been nice if she had. Lots of people here, being so close to Mexico, speak Spanish and then their kids learn English when they go to school.
You right, different parts of the country speak differently though it is the same language.
betty
I took Spanish from junior high, high school and into college but never used it enough so not fluent but know a bit to get by when helping customers... We may be getting rain tomorrow... :)
