33 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!

Life is a Special Occasion!

Gumdrop Day is celebrated every year on February 15th. If your Valentine's Day wasn't sweet enough, today might be able to make up for that. Celebrate this deliciously sweet day by eating these colorful gelatin based candies or using them to make wonderful gifts and crafts. Gumdrops are well known for being an important ingredient in gingerbread houses, and they also make great cake and cupcake toppers.
Have fun and enjoy all the colorful sweetness of a gum drop today!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If bitterness wants to get into the act, I offer it a cookie or a gumdrop.
James Broughton
Did you know that gumdrops have been a popular treat for about 200 years. The board game Candy Land features both a Gumdrop Pass and a Gumdrop Mountain!
Silly trivia today for a sweet kind of day. Here at my house I’ve still got Halloween and Christmas candy. I’m thinking it is time to throw it all out.
We got a few light flurries yesterday and may get a few more today. Our big warm up hasn’t really started yet, although we haven’t had any below zero temps for a few days and that is something to be thankful for. We’ll be slowly inching up into the 50’s by this coming Thursday.
The pictures today are of a few signs of spring that I’ve seen recently. I went over to Rural King, a store that is like Tractor Supply and stocked up on suet cakes and bird seed blocks for my feeders. Low and behold there was a big stack of mulch sitting in the parking lot. The white stuff in the background is piles of snow shoveled from the parking lot. Then just inside the door were raspberry bushes for sale. One bush was for orange raspberries. That is something I’d never seen before. Well we certainly can’t plant anything here yet. After I got home I spotted a robin outside. While I do know that some robins winter over, I never see any around here so I consider this robin a sign that spring is not very far away.
I hope you all have a super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Life is sweet as a gumdrop….
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1409. for the first robin sighting this year
1410. for sweet treats that remind me of all the sweet people in my life
1411. for signs of spring
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Where man sees but withered leaves, God sees sweet flowers growing.

Yayyy for the robin... the one I saw on January 28th has not shown it's face again... it went back south, hopefully!
How cute with gumdrop day! I haven't had one in years, but heading to the grocery store soon, might get a small bag of them!
Good that you saw a robin! Spring is so close!
betty
Gumdrops... mmmmm...
Spring is close, my trees are blossoming with hundreds of bees and my bulbs are coming up... the birds have returned to my birdfeeders and I'm still waiting for the boys to rake all the leaves from the fall, lol... Happy Saturday! :)
Nice day here today, just a little too cool to stay outside. This makes me think I haven't had any gum drops in a long time, so on my store list will be gum drops.
My sister had a whole flock of robins in their yard at the weekend, and then a huge snowfall. God does take care of his little creatures though and a robin is always a sure sign of spring's arrival!
I love gumdrops. We cannot get them over here. The ones they sell are as hard as rocks. Not good in my opinion! I always bring mine home from Canada when I visit. Have a fabulous week! xxoo
