The Ohio Mechanics Institute was first organized in Cincinnati on November 20, 1828. The Ohio Mechanics Institute sought to assist Ohio's skilled workers with the state's rapidly industrializing economy. The nonprofit institute sponsored lectures and provided other types of practical training for mechanics in the city. It was one of the first technical schools in the United States. The institute also established a large library and reading room.
In 1958, the institute became known as the Ohio College of Applied Science, with an evening school still known by its original name. The Ohio College of Applied Science was incorporated into the University of Cincinnati in 1969.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
How queer everything is today! And yesterday things went on just as usual. I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if Im not the same, the next question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!
Lewis Carroll
While I know very little at all about mechanics, I am thankful for those that do. They keep our cars running and also many industries too. We depend on their knowledge in many ways. There was a time in Ohio’s history that we were a great industrial state. I know many that moved here because jobs were available. Now it seems the tide has turned and while some industry remains, there are fewer and fewer jobs it seems. Thankfully those in my family all have jobs. but some have moved away because that is where their jobs took them.
Relocation is now something that happens to a lot of people. Some relocate just to live a little better. Our suburbs have grown and grown over the years as many didn’t want to live in the city. Many down town areas are a shell of what they used to be. Changes seem to happen every day in some way or another. That can often be a good thing but not always.
I can remember a time when most everyone in a family lived close by. I guess I never really dreamed that my family would be spread as much as they are now.
Today’s pictures were taken last Saturday, the quiet before the storm.
God give me the serenity to accept things which cannot be changed; Give me courage to change things which must be changed; And the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.
Reinhold Niebuhr
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out to another is to risk involvement,
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
To hope is to risk despair,
To try is to risk to failure.
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live.
Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.

PRAYER REQUEST
Please join me in praying for DDIL#5 as she is to give birth to my 19th grandchild tomorrow. May the dear Lord watch over and support these parents and bring their child into this world safely and in good health.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Many aspire to change the world but few realize that everyone accomplishes that goal. Each day you live you are changing something. Rather than simply changing the world, one should aspire to make a positive change with each action they commit.

I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1148. for changes, they always come
1149. for those with a gift for the mechanical things in life
1150. for job to do, all are special in their own right
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Change the changeable, accept the unchangeable, and remove yourself from the unacceptable

How exciting for the new grandbaby tomorrow, Ma!! I too am appreciative of mechanics and pretty much anyone that does mechanical things or plumbing things, having no talents in either of those areas. I do agree that sometimes it is necessary to go to where the jobs are. It is good in this day and age though that there are lots of ways to stay connected even though family and friends may be spread all over the place.

So exciting!! A new grand baby tomorrow!!! Special thoughts... :)
My husband could do most anything he wanted to and we never had to hire a plumber or electrician for all these years and now at our age we're proud they are out there. Even though they're hard to find anyone that will do it here in our town. We needed a plumber a few weeks ago and it took days for him to get here. It was a slow drain in the bathtub so glad it wasn't any worse. Lol. Congratulation on your new grandbaby.
