If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Ohio’s 44th governor Andrew L. Harris was born in Butler County, Ohio, on November 17, 1835, to former teacher and farmer Benjamin Harris and Nancy Lintner Harris. In 1838, the Harris family moved to Preble County. Harris attended public schools before enrolling at Miami University in 1857. He graduated in 1860 and began to read the law in the office of Thompson and Harris in Eaton, Ohio.
When the American Civil War began in April 1861, Harris immediately enlisted as a private. He served until he was mustered out on January 15, 1865. Harris first entered politics in 1866, when he was elected to represent Preble and Montgomery counties in Ohio's general assembly. In 1875, he was elected to the first of two terms as probate judge of Preble County.
In 1905, the Republican Party asked Harris to run for lieutenant governor. Although Democrat John M. Pattison was elected governor, Harris was elected lieutenant governor. Governor Pattison died while in office on June 18, 1906, and Harris then became governor.
During Harris's administration, a number of Progressive reforms were enacted. Ohio passed its first pure food and drug law, created a bureau of vital statistics, and banned corporations from using money to influence politics. Harris had supported passage of legislation that encouraged the spread of Prohibition across the state, thus earning him a number of enemies. Harris ran unsuccessfully for reelection in 1909, in large part because of opposition from those who were against Prohibition.
Harris once again returned to his farm in Preble County after the election in 1909. He remained there until his death from heart problems on September 13, 1915.
Are right and wrong convertible terms, dependant upon popular opinion?

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, riches take wing, and only character endures.
Horace Greeley
While I’m not into politics at all, I included this bit of Ohio history today because I think it is important to know about the people that helped to make Ohio a great state.
It seems it is impossible to please every one. You can be very popular with some people and very disliked by others. I think we all need to remember that popularity isn’t what is important. Being popular actually means that people are drawn to you because of how you make them feel. In the end, it's about friendship and making people feel important. Remember always it is nice to be important but it is alway more important to be nice.
I think what we fail to remember is that we are all created differently and all important to someone. We are each popular, in a loving, kind, and charitable way to our friends and family. You don’t have to fight to be the best at anything but who you are: a true, honest, beautiful, and capable person. It takes time to figure out who we all are deep down, but knowing that is far more valuable than living the popular life. Nothing can top that!
Tonight we’ll be seeing the full moon of November which was named the Beaver Moon because it was the time to set traps, before the waters froze over.
I hope you all have a Relaxing & Restful Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Avoid popularity if you would have peace.
Abraham Lincoln
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

MA, an inspiring set of quotes for Sunday morning, thank you!
Never heard of the Beaver moon, Ma. I'll have to watch for it tonight. I so agree that I would not want to be popular, but would want to live an honorable life indeed!
You too enjoy your Sunday Ma!
betty
I'm a bit popular at the moment as everyone is glad I am back as their boss in shoes... and the beaver moon was stunning this past weekend... :)
