If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
It was on this date in 1879 that James Ritty, of Dayton, Ohio, patented his invention called Ritty's Incorruptible Cashier. Ritty's machine did not have a cash drawer. Instead, it simply recorded the number of sales and also the amount of each one. This machine allowed Ritty to keep accurate track of the number of sales and the amount of each sale that was made.
Upon patenting his invention, Ritty established a company to manufacture the cash registers in Dayton. Unfortunately, Ritty's invention did not draw much enthusiasm from other business owners, and Ritty's new company quickly closed. Ritty eventually sold his patent to a group of Ohio investors. Among them was John H. Patterson, who eventually turned Ritty's invention into a fortune. In 1884, Patterson founded the National Cash Register Company.
If there were no bad speculations there could be no good investments; if there were no wild ventures there would be no brilliantly successful enterprises.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Invest a few moments in thinking. It will pay good interest.

We all know how popular cash registers turned out to be. Little did I know that the inventor of them was from Ohio. Seems I’ve learned more about Ohio lately than I ever knew.
From now until Christmas those cash registers will be jingling with sales for the holidays. The grocery stores, the toy stores and the gift shops are about to get a whole lot busier. I hope to be doing some special shopping in the days ahead. Not only will I be shopping for gifts, I’ll be looking for some ideas too. Hopefully I’ll have some new pictures to show you of what I find.
One thing I know, maybe two, is that the time you invest in others it is always a good thing, and as the well know inspirational writer, Orison Swett Marden said, There is no investment you can make which will pay you so well as the effort to scatter sunshine and good cheer through your establishment.
The pictures today are a mixmatch of photos of some of my family, grandchildren, turkeys and grand dogs too.
I hope your all have a great start to this new week and have a Happy Monday!
A will finds a way.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.
Frank Lloyd Wright
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

All great pictures, Ma, the one with the dog and glasses was funny. Interesting how the first time Ritty's cash registered didn't draw much attention, but then later did, of course at someone's gain. I like to read about trivia facts like this.
Yep you are right, cash registers will be humming much in the next few weeks!
