If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
It was on this date in 1926 that Phoebe Anne Moses, a world famous markswoman and entertainer who was better known by her stage name of 'Annie Oakley', died in Greenville, Ohio.
Moses was born on August 13, 1860, in Darke County, Ohio. By the mid 1870s, Moses had earned a name for herself due to her shooting skills. In 1875, she won a contest against Frank Butler, a marksman who earned a living by performing in circuses. Butler convinced Moses to travel with him across the country. The two performers later were married.
In 1885, the couple joined 'Buffalo Bill' Cody's Wild West Show. Moses became known as 'Miss Annie Oakley', the Peerless Lady Wing-Shot. In her act, Oakley routinely split a card in two edge-wise with a single shot from thirty paces
Big shots are only little shots who keep shooting.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.

Just like Annie Oakley, we all have some times in our lives that we have to hang in there and persevere. Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy it seems.
Most of us aren’t going to become stars in any kind of show, but we all have important work to do. No job is any less important than the one you do. It takes all kinds of people to make this world go round. Your work is just as essential in the grand scheme of things, as any other.
Each of us is unique and special. No matter where we are or what we do, we all have something important to contribute.
What we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God
Eleanor Powell
You are special! Believe it!
The pictures today are a look at the fall leaves before they are all gone.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday.
We can’t be good for others if we aren’t first good to ourselves!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
When the world says, Give up,
Hope whispers, Try it one more time.

I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1097. for hope that give us perseverance
1098. for those that persist in doing a good job
1099. for work to do each day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

MY JOURNALS

So true, Ma, that we are all unique and special and we all have our special gifts to use to contribute to our families, work, community, etc.
When we lived in Montana, we would go down often to visit Cody, Wyoming, named for Buffalo Bill Cody and there were several museums that highlighted displays about Annie Oakley. Fascinating time in our country's history I do believe.

MA... I'm thankful for the early nightfall signaling an end to late yardwork, and being able to put my warm nightgown on early! I love knowing more about Annie Oakley.
