If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
It was on November 9, 1933, that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt announced the creation of the Civil Works Administration (CWA). The CWA was part of Roosevelt's New Deal. Roosevelt hoped that his New Deal would allow Americans to cope with the Great Depression, would help end the current economic downturn, and would help prevent another depression from occurring in the future.
The CWA was to hire workers to assist in the creation of public projects. This program hired both men and women. The State Relief Commission directed the CWA's efforts in Ohio. The CWA's projects focused on the repair or construction of public buildings, roadways, and parks. The CWA began more than six thousand projects in Ohio alone. The Civil Works Administration remained in operation until March 1934, when the federal government terminated the program due to its tremendous costs.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment.

This past week I was blessed to get out and do a little Christmas shopping and got a lot of new ideas for making gifts as well. I joined my 2 sisters and my BIL on a trip to Ikea, Frankenmuth, and Bronners Christmas World, all in Michigan. The pictures today and probably the next few days too, are of our trip.
I needed a little inspiration to get the holiday spirit moving here and thankfully I think I now have it. New ideas are always appreciated.
Today I’m making a big bowl of Mac Salad and finishing up a birthday gift for our little sweet sugar AB. She turns one year old next week, but they are having her party tomorrow. They’ll be having a little luncheon at the party so that is what the Mac Salad is for. Time is moving quickly and in just another couple of weeks we’ll be having our family Thanksgiving celebration too. DD is hosting our family get together this year and I know she is busy making up the dinner menu already.
Isn’t wonderful that with each new day there is something new to enjoy!
I hope you all have a super Saturday!
Warning-beware ! biscuit cans can fly
DS#1 called Thursday evening. He seemed quite up set and had me a little rattled as he said he’d been shot in the belly. You have to know my oldest son to appreciate how this was said. He’d been opening a can of refrigerator biscuits and the pressure in the can was so high that when he went to open it- the can flew right at him and hit him in the belly. He said it hurt and left a mark on his stomach. Who knew that biscuit tins could fly like that? I had to laugh after he’d explained all about how he’d been shot and told him maybe he should wear protective clothing when he opened one from now on…
I talked to my daughter after that and she said that she’d heard of that happening before, so BEWARE - biscuit cans can fly!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot. The possibility is always there.

I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1115. for new possibilities
1116. for another day
1117. for preparation, half the fun of any celebration
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
What comes back is a new morning every day in the year, and that's better.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

LOL about the biscuit incident, LOL, so glad it wasn't any other type of shooting and I'm sure by now DD#1 has recovered! Glad you had the chance to take the trip to Michigan that helped put you in the Christmas mood. I can't believe little AB is almost a year old already. I remember praying for her after she was born. Time does fly!
hope the party was a fun one!

WE have been through Frankemuth a long time ago! We went all the way from the Sault down to Detroit where we crossed over into Windsor where my sister was living at the time. Great journey except for the Detroit bit!
Those biscuit tins can open with fantastic force! Thankfully I have never had one fly up and hit me, but it's a wonder!
As usual love all your thoughts, quotes, photos, etc. You are a treasure. xxoo
I've been starting our Christmas wish lists with hubby... Son3 acts like Christmas is so far away but we know it will be here before we know it...
I've had two cans of biscuits lately pop open in the fridge... I thought maybe pressure or old but then I keep them on the door so I thought maybe when we close the door they bang against the jars and it pops them open...
So I keep them on the shelves again instead of the door... :)
