For New Years Eve, Thursday, December 31st, 2009

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
It's THURSDAY…
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!
Today I am sharing something I found on line last year and saved so I could put it in my newsletter this year…
If I take away all the fond, sweet feelings of the past and remove the element of regret from things I wanted to do right or things I did wrong, I am left with the facts.
Everything I do each year will be reflected in how I see my life on new year’s eve that year.
Thus, my theory of The Echo
If you stand in a canyon and shout, Hello!
Hello comes back to you.
You can't yell, How are you? and get a reply, Fine. Thanks for asking!
2010 is like a canyon. You stand on the edge on new year’s eve and what you put into it will come back to you. The more you put in, the more will come back. If you love more, you will get more love back. If you fear more, fear will come back.
So, this new years eve when you find yourself reflecting on 2009 remember, it has nothing at all to do with memories
Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
THINKING
On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Swans A-swimming = the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments
It’s Forgiveness Eve
The end of a year is a wonderful opportunity to engage in earnest reflection. Take time to forgive anyone who's wronged you during the year and for whom you still harbor resentment or bitterness. Begin the new year with a refreshed heart!
The Lord says, Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Isaiah 43:18-19
On this last day of the year, in the dark of a long winter’s light, our thoughts turn to the new year, to a new day. We reflect on what our past year has been like.
Let’s extinguish the old year. It’s time to sing a new song
A new song to the Lord !
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Serve Pork & Sauerkraut on January 1st! According to Pennsylvania Dutch tradition, pork and sauerkraut will bring good luck to you and your family in the year ahead... if it's eaten on New Year's Day. Serve pork and sauerkraut with a large bowl of mashed potatoes.
1 lean pork roast, about 4 to 5 lb.
1 cup water
1 tsp. ground black pepper
2 large cans sauerkraut
1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
Preparation -
Place the pork roast in a Dutch oven or other large, deep, heavy pan. Add about 1 cup water and black pepper. Cover and cook over low heat for about 2 hours. Mix the sauerkraut, applesauce and brown sugar together. Pour the mixture in to the pan, over the pork roast. Cover and simmer for about 1 to 1-1/2 hours longer or until the pork is tender and falling apart.
This can also be roasted in the oven, in a covered roasting pan. Set the oven temperature to 350º and roast for about 2 hours. Add the sauerkraut and other ingredients, lower the oven temperature to about 300º, and roast for an additional 1 to 1-1/2 hours. This is also a good crock pot meal. Just add all the ingredients at once and cook on the low setting for about 7 hours
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
This sweater doesn’t look very blingy…It does however have flecks of shiny silver in it to celebrate New Years Eve.
It will also have another shirt under it of some kind. I think it may be warmer than yesterday but still a chilly one. More snow is headed our way too.
Take good care all!
PRAYERS
Father, may I live each day as if it were my last day on earth.
Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Today is the last day of work for this year! Boy that does sound good!!!
I won’t have to go back until next year…which is only 3 days away, but still it is a 3 day weekend instead of 2 and that is always a good thing!

COUNTING THE DAYS
Spring is just around the corner …isn’t it?
Today Is Blue Moon Day
Blue Moon is the term applied to the second full Moon in a calendar month. It's an event that occurs roughly every two and a half years. This Thursday's blue Moon is far rarer than that though, because it's happening right on New Year's Eve—a coincidence that happens only about once in every twenty years.
So, between sharing New Year's hugs this year, take a look at the Moon, because she'll be at her most beautiful
The Moon doesn't actually turn blue. It's just the term used to describe this lunar event.
We wish you a Merry Christmas!
78 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
106 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…

Ma, I loved the first bit about looking into the New Year and about what you put into it being what you get back. Beautiful, just beautiful. I love the idea of eating pork and Sauerkraut on New Years Day too! One of my favourite meals. Thanks so much Ma for all of the special thoughts and pieces of your heart that you have so generously shared with us in 2009.
