ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 6th, 2009
It's SUNDAY…
HAPPY ST. NICK’S DAY!
Thankfully it is my day of R & R today. I guess I need it in more than one way for sure.
I had a busy Saturday and got lots done. I am hopeful that by next weekend my Christmas prep will be mostly done. The days are getting short till our Family Christmas celebration which is the Saturday before Christmas so I’ve got to be ready a little sooner than usual.
I’ll be off to church as usual and then will be back at it here preparing for Christmas.
Renewed and Refreshed for another work week!
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
Each day this week, as we encounter times that are rushed, even crazy, we can take a deep breath, and pray
Lord, I place my trust in you
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Mom’s Weekend Omelet
One way to clean up some leftover in my fridge and also have a good lunch.
Brown together
½ green pepper chopped
½ onion chopped
3 slices of smoked ham (lunchmeat)cubed
Mix 2 eggs with a fork till frothy
Just in case you didn’t know what frothy is
Pour over the pepper, onions, and ham
Cook on medium heat a few minutes and then flip over to get the other side done.
I topped the egg mixture with some baby Swiss cheese and crumbled some leftover bacon on the top. I also had a very ripe tomato in the fridge so I had this with it.
It was delicious! And I have enough for another meal too.
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
It was another cold night in the low 20’s here but they say partly sunny today and up above freezing later on.
I thought I’d show you a closer look at the turtleneck shirt—has a little snowman on it and there are real tiny buttons down the snowman’s middle.
PRAYERS
God of joy and cheer, we thank you for your servant, the good bishop Nicholas. In loving the poor, he showed us your kindness; in caring for children, he revealed your love. Make us thoughtful without need of reward so that we, too, may be good followers of Jesus
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
I talked with DS#2 yesterday. He called to let me know he’ll be traveling for work again next week. He is mostly ready for Christmas and said it was in the 30’s down by his house too and they had predicted snow, but he didn’t see any.
As always I’ll be praying for safe travels for him and for all travelers. This time of year the traffic seems to increase and people have too many things on their minds. Drive safely all !
I’m glad we didn’t see any snow. I don’t have time for snow shoveling right now. Too many other things to do.
FAMILY ALBUM
Here is our Star enjoying one of his Christmas gifts a few years ago.
COUNTING THE DAYS
To have good health throughout the next year,
eat an apple on Christmas Eve
15 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !
19 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
AND
131 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
