For Friday, December 4th, 2009
a pictorial journal
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 4th, 2009
It's FINALLY FRIDAY…
I’m always happy to see this day roll around. It means another week of work is done and the weekend is ahead.
The picture above is of our precious little Angel when we did snowflakes last year. We are supposed to see some real ones today.
BrrrChill!
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
THINGS TO GIVE UP FOR ADVENT
Give up on the magazine perfect meal plans and visions of completely coordinated handmade gift wrap.
Give up on trying to make your house look like a Hallmark commercial.
Give up on the expectation and the pressure you put on yourself to do it all
Enjoy the season and the preparation for Christmas!
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Peppermint Cocoa
1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups cane sugar
1 cup powdered French vanilla coffee creamer
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
1 bag of Starlight peppermint candies, crushed in food processor
Combine all. Makes 5 cups dry mix. Stir four TBS mix i
nto a cup of hot milk.
Makes a nice gift to give too if you wrap it in a pretty Christmas box or put it in a jar with a Christmas ribbon around it.
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
They are saying a high of 36 degrees today – so bundle up for sure.
Tonight we’ll be in the low 20’s. The heat bill will go up from now on I’m afraid.
PRAYERS
Prayer Around the Christmas Tree
Lord,
our God
the heavens are
the work of your hands,
The moon and the stars
You made
The earth and the sea and every
Living creature came into being by your word
May this tree bring cheer to this house
Though Jesus Christ your good and holy son,
Who
Brings
Life
And Beauty to us
And to our world
Lighting this tree we hope in His promise
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Here are my Sunshine boys when they were home for a visit a couple of years ago.
Tonight I have plans to wrap some of the gifts that I’ve purchased so far. I’ll put on a Christmas movie on TV and just sit and relax while I get them done. Doing much of anything else would be beyond my capabilities I think.
