ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 8th, 2009
It's TUESDAY…
Well my phone is back in service once again. For some reason they had to do something called a power cycle. I had to unplug everything and wait 5 minutes and then plug it all in again and it’s working now. I know I also need new batteries on my phones as I can never talk too long before I get a warning signal, so I tried to find them Monday and it seems the only place that might have them is Radio Shack and they were expecting a delivery on Thursday so I’ll be going back there to check…otherwise it seems my phone is becoming obsolete. Next year I’m going to do away with it anyway and just use my cell phone so I hope the home phone lasts till then.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
Everyone knows the holiday season brings plenty of joy — as well as the chaos and stress of last-minute shopping, multiple parties, and gatherings you're hosting for friends and family but we also need some time alone to keep our minds focused on the real reason for the season.
Our pastor had a good advent message for us Sunday and it went something like this:
A son who dearly loved his mother wanted to get something extra special for her at Christmas. He went into a pet shop and got her a rare exotic parrot and had it sent to her. The parrot could speak 4 languages. A week later he called to see how she like the gift he’d sent.
She said it was Delicious!
What ? he said, you ate the parrot I sent? It could speak 4 languages!
Well, she said, Why didn’t it say so?
It’s true that God speaks to us all the time, He does tell us what to do, but sometimes we need to go away to a quiet place to hear Him, whether it is walking the dog or whatever…take time to be quiet with the Lord.

- One note don't expect the tree to be beautiful when children are making them. Usually they are on their way to being eaten on the spot!
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
It will be in the upper 30’s today with a chance of rain/sleet, freezing rain in the evening. Sounds like a good evening to stay in.
One of the blogs I read used a very good expression to describe these short days and long nights…she said when dark thirty rolls around she could feel her body shutting down, that is just how I feel. It is dark just after I get home from work anymore so that is when dark thirty happens. So If I mention dark thirty….you’ll know what time I mean.
PRAYERS
Teach us, good Lord,
to give and not to count the cost,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and to ask for no reward,
save that of knowing
that we do your will
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
These little snowmen are on a throw that covers the back of my couch. It’s nice and fluffy and warm. Just the thing to be cuddling up with on these dark thirty evenings.
However, I am not doing that…nope I just can’t…too much to do.
FAMILY ALBUM
DS#1 and DD at one of family gatherings a couple of years ago. It seems impossible that the 19th is just 11 days away now. That is when our Family Christmas is.
COUNTING THE DAYS
We wish you a Merry Christmas!
An average snowflake contains 20 quintillion molecules of water.
That is a 10 with 18 zeros after it.
13 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !
17 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
AND
129 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

You will be celebrating your family Christmas on the day that we celebrate our Golden Wedding.
The Christmas waistcoat looks fun. I am never sure which blog to visit as I do not know which is your main one.
My phones are doing the same thing. People tell me it's cheaper to buy a new phone than the batteries, but I don't know because I've never checked the price. I guess I will soon.
I love the Snowman throw.
haha about the parrot! We need to get a new telephone as well. Ours is about 6 years old and quite archaic compared to what's out there today! I, too, love the snowman throw!
