a pictorial journal
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 12th, 2009
It's SATURDAY…
The picture above is the Silver Streak during a snow storm at work a few years ago. I took her in after work yesterday to have the automatic starter put in. This is a gift from my children for Christmas this year. So from now on my car will be all warmed up and ready for me to leave for work these cold winter mornings. I can push a button from inside and start the car so when I leave she’ll be all warm and I won’t have to go out to a cold car anymore.
DD and her hubby picked me up after I dropped off the car and they treated me to dinner on Friday evening too. We went to Friendly’s restaurant and I got my favorite from their menu which is the clam boat platter. They even offer a Seniors special so it was a wee bit less costly than it would have been and I got a free sundae too. DD and her hubby helped me eat it. We enjoyed peppermint stick ice cream with hot fudge sauce. It was delicious. I’ll get the car back around noon today.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
Here is our Prince Charming with his Mom in 2005. Look how tiny he is compared to now. Our babies do grow up fast. I know that every little boy and girl is dreaming about what they might be getting for Christmas this year right now. It’s such an exciting time. It’s also a busy time for us adults this time of year too. Hopefully we can all take a few moments during the rush of the day to think about why we do celebrate Christmas and to be thankful too for all our blessings.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
I know that DS#1 and his wife like chocolate about better than most so here is a recipe for chocolate lovers today…
CHOCOLATE COOKIE BARK
2 Tbsp. peanut butter
1 pkg. (6 squares) BAKER'S White Chocolate, melted
10 OREO Cookies, crumbled, divided
1 pkg. (8 squares) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted
ADD peanut butter to white chocolate; stir until well blended. Stir 1/2 the cookies into each bowl of chocolate.
DROP spoonfuls of the chocolate mixtures onto waxed paper-covered baking sheet, alternating colors of chocolates. Swirl with knife.
REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm. Break into pieces.
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
It’s Christmas time and my shirts are all lined up for the next 2 weeks but I’ve not had time to take pictures of them yet so today we’ll look at DD’s Christmas sweater.
Today they say will be in the mid 30’s and the sun will shine. This will probably the best day we’ll be having for awhile. The forecast says more snow and more wind will be headed our way come mid week.
I think we’ve had it with the wind for awhile…I found a shingle in the driveway when I got home last night. I’ll have to look out when it gets daylight to see if it came from our roof. It seems every year we lose one or two and have to have them replaced. It wasn’t put on right to begin with and that is why we keep having problems.
PRAYERS
Lord, in Your own way remove everything that makes it hard for me to see You clearly today
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
AROUND HOME
This is a picture of my Christmas village that I usually put up on my shelves in the dining room each year. Lots has been added to it since this picture was taken and I didn’t bother getting it out this year. Next year I have plans to set it all up on my dining room table. That’s the only place I really have that will hold it all.
FAMILY ALBUM
Here is our Pretty Lady and Dino boy when they were last here to visit.
