a pictorial journal
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 23RD, 2009
It's WEDNESDAY…
Our Prince Charming is showing off his new Christmas pj’s in this picture. I’m looking forward to a long weekend and spending at least one of those days in my pjs. I just want to rest and relax.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
O Antiphon for Today
O Emmanuel, God is With Us: O Emmanuel, king and lawgiver, desire of the nations, Savior of all people, come and set us free, Lord our God.
Isaiah 7:14
Advent reflection for today:
Welcome everyone who comes through the doors of your life today. Open the doors of your heart and home to everyone God sends
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Sour cream sugar cookies
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup Crisco
1½ cup sugar
2 eggs
½ teaspoon of baking soda
3 tablespoons sour cream
3 cups sifted flour
½ teaspoon of salt
Mix butter (or margarine), Crisco and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time. In separate bowl, mix baking soda and sour cream until baking soda is completely dissolved. Add to butter mixture. In separate bowl, sift flour and salt together. Add to wet batter and mix well. Dough will be sticky and could then be used as drop dough if desired. If too sticky, add more flour until it can be rolled ¼ inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
They are saying it will only be partly cloudy today so maybe there is chance that the sun will shine. I’ll have on my Santa sweater and the usual turtle neck shirt under it as it will only be in the low 30’s most of the day.
PRAYERS
Lord Jesus, help us to love the truth and always to speak the truth in love. May our lives and words reflect your truth and your love to others every day.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
All is very quiet here. I’m missing the fun and laughter of last weekend but am enjoying some peaceful evenings for sure. Work has been busy but after today I’ll be working only ½ tomorrow and then have the rest of the week off!
