ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 3rd, 2009
It's THURSDAY…
Did you see the moon yesterday morning? It was there in the west on my way to work. I think it looked like there was a snow storm going on all around it. I suppose the effect was caused by all the clouds in the sky.
I forgot to mention that this was the Long Night Full Moon. Long night is an appropriate name for it as these days are short and the nights long.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
For today dream a little.
In a famous passage, Isaiah speaks of a time beyond war. How would a world at peace look to you? Spend a few minutes today quietly contemplating what it
would take to achieve it. Then look for something small you can do to advance it in your corner of the world
Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much
love we put in that action

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
O'Henry Bars
(yes it does taste like the candy bar, O'Henry)
6 cups of Special K cereal
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of white Karo syrup
1 cup of peanut butter (I prefer the crunchy)
1 small package chocolate chips
1 small package butterscotch chip
s
Bring the sugar and syrup to a boil. Add the peanut butter and cereal. Pat into a large greased cookie sheet (one with edges) or use a 9 x 13 pan.
Melt the chocolate and butterscotch chips together - use a double boiler to keep from burning. Spread the melted chips over the cereal mixture.
I have found that melting chocolate in my crock po
t also works very well.
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
We had rain yesterday and today it will be colder they say and maybe some snow by evening. Not much but still snow…
BrrrChill!
PRAYERS
Prayer for the Uninsured
Father of goodness and love,
Hear our prayers for the uninsured members of our community a
nd for all who are in need.
For those who seek care but find that it is out of reach, may they find consolation in your healing presence.
For all who are blessed with health and security, may they strive to fulfill the needs of those who are sick and insecure.
For leaders who make decisions that affect the health and well-being of others, may they work to ensure the fundamental right to health care.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who healed
those who believed
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
Tonight is my Bible Study at church. I almost hate to go out after I get home, but I figure this is more important so I’ll go.
I spoke with both DS#5 and #6 on the phone last night. One wanted an address and also to finalize some Christmas plans. The other was wondering how to make his cream sauce for Turkey Ala King, but he had figured it out before I could tell him.
I love it when my kids still need me for something.
FAMILY ALBUM
There is just nothing grander than a house filled with family!
COUNTING THE DAYS
It will soon be time to hang those Christmas Stockings!
Good luck will come to the home where
a fire is kept burning throughout the Christmas season
18 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !
22 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
AND
134 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
