For Finally Friday, December 11th, 2009
a pictorial journal
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 11th, 2009
DS#2 with 2 of his children
It's FINALLY FRIDAY…
DS#2 always has a great smile so I’m sharing that with
you all today. I’ve got lots of plans to finish up all my Christmas Prep this weekend so wish me well. Tonight through Sunday will be busy busy around my house. The Saturday after tomorrow is our Family Christmas and that means it all must be done.
Other than work this week and making things for Christmas gifts, all has really been pretty quiet around my house. The snow hasn’t accumulated enough to shovel and for that I’m very thankful. Our flurries covered the ground and everyt
hing is quite frozen now after the blast of wintry wind we got the past few days, and the weekend looks to be pretty calm also. I’m hoping it stays that way for our Christmas travelers.
I’m not so sure what DS#1 was thinking when I snapped this picture of him but I thought it’d give you a smile or two also.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
And we have this confidence in Him, that if we a
sk anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked him for is ours.
1 John 5
Let us ask for what we need this week. Whatever is keeping us from real joy can be made clean and put into balance by Him. May He heal any
thing that hinders our ability to love freely
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Today’s picture shows a breakfast casserole and a quiche we had for brunch one Christmas. They were so-o-o good. But that is not what’s on the menu today for sure.
I’ve been looking for quick and easy things to make and found this to share with you today.
CRUNCH BARS
35 PREMIUM Saltine Crackers
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 pkg. (8 squares) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped
1 cup chopped PLANTERS Walnuts, toasted
HEAT oven to 400ºF
PLACE crackers in single layer in foil-lined 15x10x1-inch pan.
COOK butter and sugar in saucepan on medium-high heat until butter is melted and mixture is well blended, stirring occasionally. Bring to boil; cook 3 min. without stirring. Spread onto crackers.
BAKE 5 to 7 min. or until topping is golden brown. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate; let stand 5 min. or until chocolate is softened. Spread chocolate over ingredients in pan; sprinkle with nuts. Cool. Break into pieces.
I think it would be good using graham crackers too!
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
Another day that needs an extra layer or two for sure.
They said our low overnight was in the teens…with the wind chill factored in I’m sure it’s was and still is in the single digits this morning. Sure hope the Silver Streak starts up all right. I’ll probably go out and let her warm up a bit before leaving for work.
PRAYERS
All-powerful Father, you have made known the birth of the Savior
by the light of a star. May he continue to guide us with his light
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
I got this lovely comforter and sheets to match a couple of Christmas’s now from my children and I do so enjoy them. I later on bought curtains to match too. My bedroom looks so much better than it did.
I’ve got to say that after years of use things do wear out and it is always nice to have something new around the house. I went out at lunch time yesterday and got a new bathroom rug specially for Christmas and a couple of Christmas hand towels. I’ll have to take a picture to share with you all tomorrow.
