It's MONDAY…
This picture is from a few years ago. No we do not have snow yet but by the end of the week we may see some. My trusty snow shovel is waiting and ready.
It’s back to work today and it will be another long work
week. The only thing on my calendar this week, besides work, is Wednesday evening I’ll be getting together with my dulcimer buddies for the final time this year. We’ll be playing our Christmas music and enjoying a few laughs as always.
After that we don’t meet again till April as the weather is to iffy in our part of the country. Snow and ice do not make good conditions for traveling. For the most part the only times I venture out is to work and to church.
I found out my phone wasn’t working yesterday as DS#
1 sent me an e-mail saying his calls were going directly to voice mail when he tried to check in Sunday evening.
I can’t call out either…it is always something.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
During the Middle Ages, Advent became a time to prepare for the Second Coming, because in those days, many people were convinced that all the signs pointed to the imminent return of Christ. In time, Advent spread throughout the western Church and became fixed at its present length. Over the last fifty years, Advent has come to anticipate the Nativity as well

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Christmas Trifle
(Sorry my trifle bowl is empty)
Custard:
3 cups milk
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup granulate sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla
Trifle:
1 small angel food cake or 1/2 large cake
1/2 seedless raspberry jam
1/3 cup dry sherry or raspberry juice
2 pkg. frozen unsweetened raspberries, thawed and drained (300 g each)
1 cup whipping cream
2 tbsp icing sugar
Garnish: toasted sliced almonds, whole raspberries or candied fruit
- Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until thickened. Pour through sieve into bowl; stir in vanilla. Place plastic wrap directly on surface; refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 2 days. Custard: In heavy saucepan, heat milk until bubbles start to appear around edges. Meanwhile, in bowl, beat yolks and sugar with whisk until light and fluffy; beat in cornstarch; slowly whisk in warm milk. Pour back into saucepan.
- Trifle: Cut cake into 3/4-inch slices; spread with jam. Spread thin layer of custard in bottom of glass bowl (preferably straight-sided) Arrange a layer of cake slices over custard. Sprinkle with one-third of the raspberries. Pour one-third of the remaining custard over berries. Repeat layers twice.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight
- Whip cream with icing sugar; spread over trifle.
- Garnish with sliced almonds and raspberries or candied fruit.
- Makes 10 to 12 servings
To make a jiffy recipe out of this you could use already prepared custard pudding and cool whip instead of whipped cream.

Hopefully, I’ll be putting my cards in the mail this week. I have a few cards though that will be put into packages to my out of state family along with their gifts for Christmas, so they may not be sent until next week.

Amen,,hope you have a fun week. I don't blame you one bit for not getting out in the cold. I love seeing snow, but from indoors.
